New screens for Brandish: The Dark Revenant from Nihon Falcom coming your way. Little by little, we're getting a picture of how the gameplay will be like. Last time around we got to see screens on the gameplay features, now we're getting a little bit more.

We already know that the game is nowhere near turn-based. Enemies won't think twice about hitting you hard if you take your sweet time selecting your next move. Now we also know that this applies even as you use items. Healing yourself is gonna be tricky 'cause those baddies won't freeze and watch those pretty lights refill your HP.

Enemies will be on the look out for you, so you'd better look out for them as well. They'll be charging right at you as soon as you come within sight.

Luckily, swordplay isn't the only thing that our hero, Ares, is good at. He can also obtain and use items that'll allow him to cast fire, thunder, and ice magic on enemies. Fire spells are great when attacking from long range, and you can even use it to scout for enemies. Thunder spells damage enemies surrounding you, so it's a great bailout when you're getting swarmed. Ice magic will simply freeze targets in their tracks, giving you a huge advantage.
