New Post Entry On David Jaffe's Blog! |
Ó
.... and it's got absolutely nothing to do with his PSP videogame (or so he would have us believe). It's been almost six months since Jaffe's last entry on his game design blog which chronicles the development of his uber top secret PSP project, currently titled "HL", but we knew somewhere deep inside that he would be back. To be sure we don't know if Jaffe plans on continuously updating his page from here on out, especially since his latest post doesn't even touch on the subject of his nearly half year absence, but any news is good news right? So, er... what is the news? Jaffe likes Saturn, and no, not the Sega machine... though he might like that as well, I really don't know:
"My brother brought his telescope over to my new house the other night. So there we were, tracking the sky, looking for stars, looking at the moon, searching for planets. And eventually, I came across Saturn. It's a big sky so it took awhile. But eventually, I found it. At first, I was just looking at this fuzzy white blob. I thought it may have been another star. But as I adjusted the focus, the rings came into view. I was looking at Saturn. In real time. I had never seen Saturn- or any other planet- thru a telescope before.
Yes, I had seen countless pictures and movies of planets on television that were taken from other telescopes. But to look up into the sky and actually see a planet for yourself, to see the atmosphere on Jupiter, to see the rings of Saturn, to actually see and KNOW that those things are really out there...well, that- for me- was powerful.
It actually took my breath away. Not hyperbole, folks. My mind actually- quite unconsciously- sent signals to my body that made me gasp."
If you're scratching your head wondering what this has to do with videogames, and why you should care, don't bother looking for hidden meanings and layers beneath the surface, maybe Jaffe's just telling us all to step outside and get some fresh air. There's a whole world of fun and excitement out there that doesn't rely on battery power, the fidelity of which isn't determined by how many polygons and textures you can render on screen or what console you pledge allegiance to. Have yourself a little cookout, or a picnic, or take your dog for a work, love the world you're in :)

"There's a whole world of fun and excitement out there that doesn't rely on battery power, the fidelity of which isn't determined by how many polygons and textures you can render on screen or what console you pledge allegiance to." ....*world crumbles*
...SATURN EMULATOR!!!!ONE 11ELEVEN!!!1
Just kidding...
1) To let you guys know that Jaffe may be updating his site regularly once again, so if you're interested in HL you might want to check it out.
2) to remind you guys, since we gamers often forget when we become so entirely consumed with our virtual world, that there's a real one out there too.
WTF?!!! Get some better news PSPU!!!
Oohh cool, so I assume he's devloping a sky emulator, so we can find our own Saturn ?
sega saturn emulator anyone?
You guys are fuc*in super ass n00bz this is an update or technicly an update becuase jaffe is designung a psp game, dont talk ***** about pspu Fuc*in n00bz
Or maybe he just wanted to say he saw staurn and it was cool. Yes folks, Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
"Yes folks, Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
YOU READ MY MIND. Perfect quote. Why is this useless crap on the news page? argh
The Bloggers at PSP Updates are not paid. This is a free site appreciate them for updating VERY frequenly. If you can't respect them, then please, do us all a favor and keep your opinion to yourself.
Also this is PSP related news. Jaffe is currently designing a PSP game and has been absent from his blog for a long while. This could mean he could start updating frequenly. And PSP Updates is probably the BEST PSP news website at the moment. Even if their news is mostly found from many other sites.
Could you do a better job blogging? I think not.
Oh, and I know there's a real world out there I have a window you know!
The guy is just talking about something he saw in his backyard and trust me in Los Angeles that is something amazing because of all the smog
Uhh just because we come to this site or like the psp doesn't mean we don't go to the outsides , computers is somewhere I am when my parents aren't home , I have an injury , I feel sick , I'm eating , it's later than 11 PM , I feel tired of playing the drums and need a 1 hour break or I wanna listen to slipknot.
Thank you.
people shouldn't get so worked up, it is ONE article out of thousands on PSP updates, this site really does provide the best, most up-to-date news on PSP homebrew, and as mentioned, they do it FOR FREE, unless you are planning on doing better yourself then stop complaining!!
Seriously, ppl, don't consider everyone visiting this site a lifeless ***** who needs help.
yeah, i have to agree that this is kinda pointless, but it does show us that he is still actually posting on his blog and didnt forget about it.
Worst. Post. Ever.
Everyone thats say'n this has nothing to do with videogames, or this sucks, just dont comment. Its not your site, they can do what they want. This post are for the game addicts, like myself, that need to get out more.. lol..
Oh and # 2..Thats what he is saying, "some" people need to get out, do something, have fun, get a girlfriend... lol
And for the ones that are saying this is bull $hit, or the ppl that will make fun of my post, your just showing how much you need to get out more...
Its so funny how some people react to something that is posted on a web site, just deal with it, I mean when there isnt a breakthrough, we need somthing else to read, so we have these things, just deal with it, you dont have to read it anyways, just move on...
Good post, keep'm coming... Jumped it up...
Yep, obviously "some" people need to get out for a bit. It doesn`t hurt anyway to miss homebrew or w/e for a day or two.
WOW I SURELEY DONT UNDERSTAND THIS.
who cares if this isnt related? seriously people, if you get this angry about something like this, i think you should get anger management classes lol.
Who cares if it's not PSP related? It's good enough someone's telling people to get off their ass and enjoy the world... Video games aren't THAT big of a deal, people. And if you don't like it, don't comment. If it's this big of a deal to you, go get a life
i cannot believe all of you insensitive idiots out there. THEY DONT UNDERSTAND A THING. its NOT about a Saturn emulator, its NOT useless, and if you want a hint, he is indeed developing something gigantic.
lol, just kidding XD there probably is not a huge thing in there
It sounds like he's on drugs, no offense
I can believe how many ignorant people there are out there.... Man guys seeing the planets is *****en awesome, stop begin so self centered and materialist.
Theres other more important things in life.
Good post but maybe not the best spot to post it.
i thought that will be that one who program a planetarium program, or a telescope control software for psp , T_T.
i was thinking about this the other day,but i no have any idea about programming :p..so..
by the way, there is more than planets that can be seen trought a telescope, even a small one, like if got (nebula, clusters, galaxies....)
"OMG GEEK *****S THIS HAS NOFFINK TO DOO WIV PSP GET A LEIF"
Stupid close-minded bastards... Sure it may not have nothing to do with this website but we got worried that the guy wasn't posting on his blog and this proves that he is still alive and well which is a good thing, since we know he's probably still working on his project.
Just wanted to say to the QJ. updater Christopher C. that it's posts like these that make QJ cool, if I want info on the PSP or anything else I can just 'google it', but if I want a forum that has info on the PSP and a little character/personality to boot, I come here. Good work.
i saw saturn once it was awesome. i think this guy has a point he has the right to be happy
He is Right i mean as long as you go outside get some physical activity. I mean if u balance ur gaming which is a hobby with getting outside and enjoying life without a computer for one day hes just trying to make a point to people who check the site every 15 minutes. So People who stay home all day and can go outside. GO!
well since #2 is checking this site every 15 minutes its pretty obvious he is a geek and doesn't have a girlfriend
btw i've never even heard of jaffe and i doubt his little secret is anything good
#40 - there are also more important things in life than seeing a planet
How do I take my dog for a work?
How very deep that was...
Although you have to marvel at the irony of someone who "blogs" about his moment of clarity like this.
Yes, there is a big world to explore and enjoy and run straight back to your safe haven on the internet and write about it in your blog. Goddamn, that's so ironic to me (perhaps that should be "moronic" actually).
Here's the bottom line: Do what you ENJOY DOING... if it's planet gazing or playing with your PSP 24 hours a day - who cares?! If you're enjoying your life indoors with a PSP in your hands, why are you worse off than someone with a telescope in front of his eyes? Nobody should be suggesting to anyone how to live their lives.
Just do what you wanna do and enjoy it. Life's to short anyway.
