2. Download

Another thing to consider is that you'll lose any of the functionalities in your previous CFW if you install this. According to PSP-Hacks, homebrew and plugins work but there is no ISO support. If you want to switch back to you previous CFW, that's where the Pandora battery comes in.

Thumbs down for commenting on your own article. Why are all you editors doing that? It's annoying. If you have something to say, put it in the article.

The article is usually copied and pasted from elsewhere, so that all the news events are here for people to see instead of searching the internet for hours for shit that most of us don't care about. After posting the article, they give THEIR opinions on it. It makes sense, and isn't even that big of a deal even if it didn't.

Because news is supposed to be pretty bloody objective, while the comments section allows the to author throw in their opinion.

If you didn't know that, then back to pre-school it is.

Really nice to see someone's attempting a 6.35 CFW.

It's not even "late" given the past couple of years of CFW--"late" just sounds greedy by PSP scene standards

Better something than nothing, really

Is CFW really needed at all now?

Not that I don't love seeing awesome new developments like this, but surely all that's needed now is a few signed emulators and an ISO loader (preferably allowing a load direct from the XMB).

I'm no hacker myself, but are these things really that tricky compared to a full blown CFW?

# RE: HmmUltimaXX 2011-01-15 14:21
And how exactly would you get said ISO loader to load upon boot without modifying the boot process?

It's not upon boot, it's during the XMB. You could henceforth load a signed eboot that would create another process to load an ISO while running under the said loader. Don't be a butt about it.

And people really want to deal with the added inconvenience of running an ISO loader eBoot every single time because..?

Reply

# Because...Ryugen 2011-01-21 23:38
They wouldn't have to risk flashing their psp, there would be an increased stability with a loader that is signed and not limited in space, AND!!! because it isn't that much hassle really. Most of the pirates already take the iso from somewhere else...

Why don't these CFW developers just use the recently leaked private keys to sign the firmware, then we would be able to install it on any PSP model whatever the motherboard.

Have they? Haven't seen it available, maybe because Sony's taking care of it.

Well the PSP's security is all handled by something called the Kirk Engine. The keys for the Kirk Engine were actually found through the PS3. Devs such as Mathieulh have stated now that the Kirk Engine keys are available that you can sign anything to run on any PSP, hacked or not.

You're not paying very much attention to the scene if you didn't hear the news. The PS3's keys were reverse engineered because of a crypto goof, which was bad news for Sony because it turned out the PSP keys were there for the taking too.

No ISO, less functionality... I think I'll stick with 5.50 GEN-D3 right now.

I like that there's another CFW being developed, however Imma hold out on using it till it gets a bit more fleshed out in features.

I want to know this too, but seeing as this firmware has been made from the ground up it seems to only work with the PSP 2000s Motherboard which is different to a 1000s. All in all I think once it is out of BETA it should be ready for other models.

It's like how Go firmware doesn't function on 1000, 2000, or 3000s and vice-verse. Either that or it was built specifically to the 2000's specs.

I think his better late than never comment is because of the fact Sony is trying to crack down on all stuff of this sort..since they continually update the PSP, its a joke to see a new PSP FW considering the fact no one has touched it to make a CFW in years. Along comes a new dev, and we're happy to see someone has not given up on the PSP. Thank you Neur0n, this is a step in the right direction, rather than a complete hault, because of the lack of interest from most people who know how to code for this. If I knew, I'd contribute to the scene, I guess I can just offer myself to test the FWs.

Awesome stuff... although it is rare to come across a HB prog. that will run with 6.35 cfw's. Prometheus ISO Loader is really cool yet takes to much space when dumping. Anyone who is new to the scene should probably stick to 5.xx gen-b,c,or d this way you can play the best emulators and get the Game decrypter to play PN games. PSP 3000's are almost impossible to soft mod without a MMS and Service battery(pandora ).

P.S. Tenchi, just let it go if people want to comment on their own blogs let them. Remember that these forums are meant to help each other and not bash one another
