Rumors have been flying all over the internet over the highly anticipated (or for homebrewers, disliked) firmware 3.00 update. You saw some of the pictures from E3 and from other sources, and now it's (almost) here. The date for the 3.00 update will be released on October 19! As you can see, there are many new features and even a new layout! By the way, there is now a "Remote Play" option under the network connections tab, for wireless play between the PSP and PS3!

Actually the release date will be found out on the 19th not released then. The date will be announced at the game show in SF.

That image was proved fake months ago when a PSP forums admin claimed that he got it from a legit sony rep. As for the sources for this it's completely crap. It's obviously just a giant grab for attention and probably a method to make QJ look even more crappy than it already is. In fact there were many fake 3.0 photos going on at the time and the photo alone looks like a horribly done photoshop job. (note the lack of the backround wave, the font on the time and date is different, and the low quality icons on the XMB) Failure.

You can tell this is fake. The person didn't even source the thing. Also the pic doesn't even look PSP-ish. And one more thing. How is it that some random guy comes here and says that 3.00 will be released on the 19, but nobody else knows about this? Sony will surely be taking steps to make 3.0 as difficult as possible to emulate using Devhook. If a Ps1 emulator is going to be included in this firmware then avaliable memory will be more important meaning a potential of Ps1 games not playing as well under an emulated environment. It will be very interesting to see how everything turns out.

The reason there is no wave is because its a custom background the reason the icons look crappy is cus of the crap quality of picture, this is a real photo, but not of firmware 3.0, its just fw 2.6 with the locationfree device connected, u get those extra icons

The icons in the XMB are not chrome like in the picture. Also, in 2.00 Sony added the network icon AT THE END of the Menu, but now they are putting atleast 4 in the middle? I'm not buying this

Does 3.0 include the PSOne emulator? If so, I might be tempted to update, but since I now can run homebrew on my psp again, while playing my games (2.71) I'm not quite sure if it's worth it.. If it does include the PSOne emu, I might, not yes, but might upgrade. If it does include it, and you can play ripped copies of games, then hell yes I will upgrade. Otherwise, chances of me upgrading are slim. (ATM)

kidding right?! I saw this same pix on QJ like 4-5 months ago and remember when it was said to be fake. Likelyhood that this is real? < 5% my guess. But time will always tell. On the other hand, if it is claimed to have this so called PS1 emulator, this would be a big deal. Sony would have to bring the site down in order to add this feature through the PSP browser. Much like when the PS website was brought down almost a week before v. 2.0 was released to be optimized for the units web browser. I still have my doubts like many others do, but again I'll say time will tell. On the other note has anybody checked the PSP browser lately to see if the site was down? It would be a start lol

It would be smartest to wait and see if someone manages to hack the new firmware to create a different firmware that includes PSONE emulation while still providing homebrew. Dont upgrade untill you have to. The first selection of PS1 games might suck.

They NEVER said the actual firmware was going to come out tomorrow (today), they said they will give out the release date for the firmware, not the actual update. And that pic is just something to go along with the article so it doesn't look plain, its not a preview or anything.

I was messing with the 2.81 update (dumbass me). Before you needed the AC adapter plugged in. Now Sony apparently doesnt care if my battery dies and i brick my PSP. Well now i;m on the other side I can tell you 2.81 sucks. No TIFF hbrew works. No noticable improvements. Guess only thing to do now is to wait for 3.00 to come out. Stupid a**hole me

the release has got to be today, they can't release it on october 19 of 2007, the PS3 comes out in less than 20 days, and the main feature on 3.0 is remote play with PS3, they're not gonna wait a whole year! the ps1 emulator will get pirated or even "hacked" as soon as its released. the only way to actually stop people from downloading ps1 games is if the ps1 rom is encrypted for your certain psp (unlikely). and, we will probably also be able to creat homebrew and run it through the ps1 emulator, cause i asume it would give access to the kernal

the most likely scenario for the ps1 emulator is that we download it using the psp, and its encrypted on the memory stick

okay, for all you flamers saying this is fake, if you actually read the stupid thing, it says that the RELEASE DATE of 3.0 will be released, NOT 3.0.
So where IS the date for the 3.0 update?

I downloaded version 3.0 from the japanese site. It has more features than expected. It comes with the ability to sniff out wifi connections and hack their WEP key, browse files on any nearby computer, regardless of security type, and it now has a touch screen that installs itself... Oh, and it has 4D graphics, a 80 inch plasma screen with 164 billion colors present at any givin time, javascript coffee maker, foot massager, and it can now shoot lasers from the infared port, with additional UMD (utility of mass destruction) support.

Of course its all going to be fake, they can say they got it from a trustworthy source, and Ohh yeh I bought america for $2.50 yesterday! I think its just good to watch out for things directly from Sony, not something that says it got it from sony, or someone that says they got it from someones brother who has an aunt who has a sister who has a son who got the info from sony! Just watch out for the official release, it prolly not even gonna be 3.0 next! Although because of homebrew, expect alot more features (this is my view on it) because Sony will want to make it so that people cant resist upgrading! They might even release some program where you can create homebrew applications, but codec in their firmware will stop you doing anything bad.... they want people to stop the bad homebrew!
Still 2.81. i was looking forward to this update, cause i have a version 1.5 as well as a 2.81. i hope its not delayed for long. im sure it will be released before the ps3 though. or at least at the same time. thats only a month away.

I am a worker on psp updates and we have already made firmware 3.00 . We are done but we are perfecting the system. The realease date will be about NOVEMER 26. After the ps3 (i work on that 2). we havent told any won but it will include free music down loading security paint word pad email and IM and many more. To get the prototype email me.

It is October 28th, at 12:11 PM Eastern Standard time. I went and turned on my PSP, went to Network Update, and it found a newer version. I'm unsure if it's 3.00, but, it's of course somethin' higher than 2.81... -Syp.

you wouldn't be able to do am/fm through the internet because most stations don't broadcast to .mp3, .ogg or whatever other formats the online streaming stations use.
also, you couldn't really call it am/fm radio if it was over the internet... because it isn't AM/FM at all.

I got 3.00 it allows you to play xbox games with the xbox emulator called x-crazy its pretty cool. Sony are also releasing a Gamecube emu soon i cant wait. I got firmware 3.00 from Google ( Just search ) it also has Radio which is good too. I got 1.50 on one PSP and 3.00 on my pink PSP and i must say that 3.00 is almost as good. I got a white psp (1.5) with some ass stuff on it. I will however upgrade to the new 3.00 firmware if it has the Wii and DS emu on it. I Heard it will have bluetooth aswell and a hose pipe. G'd night.
