MY QJ: PSPTouchME concept images |
Ó

Today at the 0x89 development forums, Harleyg have posted some cool concept images of what the PSPTouchME touch screen might look like. He also confirmed that it will use the USB port instead of the serial port. If the touch screen were to use the serial port, an audio jack would have to be present because the serial port wont be active if not.
This would lead to it having no sound, so now the touch screen will use the USB. Don't worry about the occupation of your USB, as seen on the images and written by harleyg himself, there will be a USB plug on the top of the screen (not actually on the screen it self, but you know what I mean, just look at the picture).
The touch screen may become compatible with the new 0x89 XMB Replacement Harleyg and his mighty team is creating. How cool is that?! And homebrew in the future may also become compatible! If not there would be no use.

also who is creating this SONY?
who will start making games for this add on?
will the add on come with the game, like the microphone with talk man?
will the next firmware update have full support for the touch screen. an option to turn the touch screen on and off could make it more probable.
i hope this works out for the best because if been really frustrated with most of the controls for psp, if only sony was smart enough to put a second analog stick on

It just amazes me how many coders/devs actually are more innovative then Sony is. One things I'd change though... make the USB on top passthrough instead of implementing a switch as they indicate. Would make it easier to use and not add another step to the USB connect process. Either that or make it software controlled to where the screen turns off and allows for USB connectivity when you go into USB connect in the XMB. Hell, for that matter coders out there should unite and just write some freaking firmware for scratch to totally replace the SONY one. Now that ***** would rock the community and show Sony who's who! If coders are worried about not getting anything for it in return, then sell it. I'd gladly pay for a custom firmware from the ground up with continued support and updates.

Instead of spending £160, and then probably £100 for this, just spend £90 for a DS Lite and a game, and keep the rest of the money to thrown into the Sony charity pot after they go bust.

Ye and a DS emu too, altough that's much harder.

This mod..well it's cool they can and are doing it but I can careless about anything DS like. The touch screen on a console is flat out lame its not a pda. Good thing not all DS games use it.
Maybe when all you DS lovers grow up you'll be able to work the register at Macdonald's.

As for handhelds, Sony doesn't even have their own market. PSP is not a video game system, and never will be. Look at the reviews, and you'll see constant terrible scores. The only thing keeping the PSP aliev is it's MP3 feature that is more than dissapointing, it's laughable.
This touch screen attachment is a failure towards Sony, and the video game industry altogether. I've lost all faith in Sony, and their future. They've got nothing exclusive to their system.

~i like psp better than DS, i own both.
~DS has higher sales because it's cheaper(which isnt always good).
~PSP can do more things than DS can.
~Some DS games are more fun, but thats because they are easier to play.
to 48-
locoroco is a psp game not a DS game!
to 43-
DS doesnt have good homebrew games!

Sony is doing fine as a company, they make more than just the Playstation... Like plasma TV's, Digital cameras, and many other things. and they're good at making these things too.
Thats all i have to say. Thanks for listening.

I have both the PSP and DS, I love them both but for seperate reasons, dont think that im a nintendo fanboy or that im trashing the PSP, bt come on, everyone knows that nintnedo games (Not including homebrew)>PSP Games
making the hardware is simple, all you need to do is buy a right sized touch screen, adapt it to miniusb, then split the usb port into another one. the hard part will be making a driver for this.
it just seems really unecessary to me

the DS needs special equiptment and cards usually bought online to let you store and use homebrew, so my thoughts are, maybe not as many people are willing to develope homebrew and creat awesome things like PSP developers do (O.O what a concept, huh?!)IF YOU WANT A DS, LEGITIMATLY BUY A DS, AND DONT HOPE ON A DS EMU, BECAUSE IT WONT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!! KUDOS TO THE DEVELOPERS FOR ATTEMPTING SOMETHING LIKE THIS, I WISH YOU THE BEST ON THE PROJECT (as everyone should do. its hard work ppl!), and we all look forward to seeing the result of it.

Team 0x89 is making this, not sony.
There is NO PLANS WHAT-SO-EVER on making a ds emu. Period.
This WILL be supported by 0x89, the XMB replacement.
Touch screen programming is not diffrent from collision detection, so once finished and a library is done, it will be fairly easy to program.
We already have a few devs who say they wanna support it in their homebrew.
THIS IS NOT SUPPORTED IN ANY WAY WHAT SO EVER BY SONY!

"it would be cool if there was a keyboard and a mouse pointer made."
We need more FPS games!
To all you DS dummies get a DS if you want to play it,
stop talking about wanting to play DS on PSP. Thats
not what this project it intended for so stop your well wishing.
It is amazing how many lamers spring out from the wood work to spout off about DS BS when this project had nothing to do with Nintindo.
Look, I hate SONY because of their stupidity about locking out what we the consumer really wants out of our handheld and continuously trying to block us from getting what we want by tempting the retarded with fw releases.
Second anolog would be awesome but that will occure first in Jap March 2007.
Once again I wish the hord of newbs would read before assuming anything and looking like the "1st poster" dumbasses.

Maybe when all you DS lovers grow up you'll be able to work the register at Macdonald's.
ROFLMAO
It amazes me that this is about PSP yet 89% of the posts is about DS in some way or another.
What a bunch of helpless sacks of DS Shight.
I own a PSP and I don't own a DS, I'm not saying anything about the DS but I am talking trash to the pathetic DS owners that post here talking trash about the PSP, get a live noobs and pull your dental records out of your proctology report.
All these DS fanboys on a PSP forum are cranial-rectal inversion shorthand for "I'm not going to debate you,
I'm just going to call you names and throw stones and misdirect and you'll concentrate on that..."
Tipical for lamers posting off topics on precise threads.
I believe that this touch screen is going to work out nicely and will have a ton of uses.
Disregarding all the DS nooblets crowing about how PSP sucks and how they wish they were right about SONY ripping off Nintindo when it comes to touch screen which we all know is popy*****.
As much as I hate SONY I do apploud them for some things and even though they continuously try to block us the PSP is the best Handheld we have seen yet and will continue that record for a long time to come only because of the hand played by the hack Devs.
Thanks guys.
DS noobs, need not post here!

Not that that will ever happen. The N64 and PS1 emulators are still crap; heck, the GBA emulator and the SNES emulator still aren't perfected. There isn't even a good DS emulator for the PC yet! And DS roms are designed to work with two screens, so an emulator would have to, at best, work around that programming. Also, because some games use both screens to show one vertical image, you'd have to hold the PSP sideways to make it look right. I don't know if anyone here has tried the vectrex emulator, but holding the PSP sideways for an extended period of time is not fun. Also, this thing is only in the stages of concept images! It'll be ages before this comes out, if it comes out at all, and by that time the PSP will probably have already died. Even if that's not the case, it will only be used for homebrew, and it will probably be difficult to program; meanwhile, the DS already has homebrew games that use the touch screen, and official games as well.
To 74, yes, most of the posts are about the DS, but most of them are about how the DS sucks, posted by idiots who don't have half the brain power required to understand anything I'm talking about here (people like you, for example). If you WEREN'T a moron, you'd realize that the DS is outselling the PSP by leaps and bounds, and that developers are saying the PSP is dead. Even Square-Enix, who in the past has always supported Sony, is focusing almost exclusively on the DS instead of the PSP.
I don't even know why we're debating this; again, if this thing ever truly comes out, it won't be for ages and it won't be used for much. There will never be a good DS emulator for the PSP before there's one for the PC.

If it will be usable with a notepad homebrew I will most probably buy it

Look to post .74
I never down talked the DS just the lamers that post here trashing each handheld.
Each has their use and I understand that.
I even wrote "I'm not saying anything about the DS but I am talking trash to the pathetic DS owners that post here talking trash about the PSP."
Only reason their pathetic is due to trash talking the PSP on a PSP forum. Go trash PSP on a DS forum just not HERE!
Why did you call me a moron when it is clear that I haven't trashed talked the DS in any way. I'm just saying that it's not a good Idea to try to emulate DS on PSP. Go get a DS if you want a DS but doon't push DS emulation in a forum talking souly about PSP Accessories.
This Forum/Blog was talking about a Touch Screen and all the noobs come out to speak about DS emulation. Now thats a Moron.
I not disputing that the PSP has declined in sales and that DS hasn't but to direct your unfocused hostility twords me was wrong.
Maybe you should re-read somebodys post before calling them a moron for saying nothing wrong. Perhaps it is the person making misguided statements that is the true moron.
Check your self before you make your self look like what your calling somebody else.
And whats with Mr. Smarts .78 asking if it's going to be made for a DS? DS already has touch screen. Now thats a NOOB question.
