Sonic Rivals

Blue hedgehogs (Well, white actually. You'll see what we mean in a while) abound today as we bring you a few more screens from the upcoming game Sonic Rivals.

In Sonic Rivals, players can play as one of four different characters from the Sonic universe, each with a different storyline and levels. Players can also customize their favorite characters by way of the rewards system, which is based on collecting trading cards. With the wireless feature, players can participate in a head to head race against a friend. They can also put trading cards on the line for even more multiplayer challenges.

Sonic Rivals will hit shelves in the fall of this year.

Sonic Rivals Ooh! Another one!
Dr. Eggman will always be known as Dr. Robotnik 'round here Why DID they change Dr. Robotnik's name anyway?

Why cant sega get a good sonic game out.

Sonic 3 and the knuckles attached to it was the best sonic game EVER! You could go back and redo past stages, there were MANY stages together at least 12 with 2-3 acts each, and more characters. You could have super sonic, super tails, super knuckles as well, and use them on anystage once you got all the gems and beat the game --- great fun replay value. In new sonic games you can only go super with one character for the last boss! LAME

They should redo sonic3 and knuckles in 3d and re-release it with more stages, more characters, a level editor, and online downloads!!!!!! !

Word..The Sonic Adventure and Sonic Advance (+Rush) games were mediocre at best..The current gen Sonic isn't getting any better. And still with the racing games?

R.I.P. A once great franchise.

It's not a white hedgehog, it's silver.

In fact, his name is Silver.

Sigh.

» Sonic Adventure didn't suck.

Sonic Adventure didn't suck AT ALL.

Sonic Advance wasn't bad, it was quite fun, actually.

Not all 3D Sonic games suck.

Sometimes, you gotta back off from that OLDSCHOOLISTHEB EST *****. I may agree that Heroes, Shadow TH and SADX for GCN sucked, but SADX for PC was highly moddable, making it fun (I got a Shadow replacement for Sonic and a Heroes-style Metal Sonic), Riders was plenty of racing madness, especially with the cameos (personally, I use Sonic with the Super Hang-On bike), and Sonic Adventure 2/2: Battle were good if you wanted to challenge someone to a race in your favourite stage, or, with the Action Replay, have a 2-Player Chao Garden, which makes raising easier and fun!

And I still play Sonic R on my Saturn with modded music (replaced all the lame vocals and non-vocals with Sonic Advance tunes, which fit more.It was actually awesome! Me and my pal raced through the City while listening to the GBA version of the Burning Rangers theme from Sonic Pinball Party. And MAN were those races awesome.

So lay off the old-school games for a bit and ENCOURAGE Sega and Sonic Team at making better games, man. It's as annoying as people in GameFAQs starting threads on about how "this game blows".

I've given Sonic Team enough chances as it is. If they want to keep trying until they make a great game, that sounds fantastic to me. But I've lost faith in them for now. Hopefully the games coming out this fall will chane my mind, but I'm not getting my hopes up as I have before.

Sonic Adventure wasn't as bad as the others, no. But it was not great. Sonic's main game was pretty fun, and the Super Sonic at the end too. But Knuckles' hide and seek stuff was lame. Big the Cat and Amy needn't even be mentioned, as that was some of the most disturbingly bad 3D platforming ever.

I'm not on the oldschool 4 l1fe platform here. There are plenty of new good games coming out. Mario Bros for DS was enjoyable. I like new zelda games. Even Mario Sunshine and that 3D Shinobi game weren't drop-dead awful like this new sonic crap.

I've got my fingers crossed for the PS3 and Wii games. Not so sure about this handheld one though. No way to tell without playing it. It could have fantastic gameplay, but at this point I can only judge the graphics, which are pitiful.
