Puzzle games are not only extremely challenging, they are quite fun as well. And it seems like more and more people are getting hooked on puzzle games - the number of games being released in this genre is enough testimony of that. Now, puzzle game fanatics have another game to add to their collection: Capcom Puzzle World for the PSP.

A compilation of Capcom classics Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Block Block, and the three-in-one Buster Bros. Collection, Capcom Puzzle World have been retouched and updated to fit the PSP system's 16x9 widescreen aspect ratio. Hare are other nice features PSP owners can expect on this game:

* Personalized content:

-The first PSP system game with a screenshot mode. Stop any game at any time to take a snap shot of the moment
-Customize Buster Bros. game backgrounds by uploading personal pictures

* Network functionality:

-Intuitive wireless ad hoc multiplayer game setups
-Virally transfer high score data to and from others systems

* Unlockable bonus content

If this is the first time you've heard of the puzzle games included in this Capcom title, let me brief you on them:
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

> Players control pairs of blocks - called 'gems' - that fall into a pit-like playfield. To prevent the dreaded game over, you will need to eliminate the gems by coming into contact with a Crash Gem of the same color. But this is just the Super Puzzle Fighter II: X gem breaking mode. In this PSP game, there will be two new modes.

First is Super Puzzle Fighter II: Y where you would need to group similar colors to create groups of three or more. Once the colors are line up, they break and charge up the “Change Gem” meter. The next mode is Puzzle Fighter II: Z. Here, you'll have the same gameplay as the X mode but in place of those falling blocks is a raising play field. To win, you'd have to prevent the gems from reaching the top.

  • Block Block

> Was originally released in 1990 and features a two player cooperative mode in destructing blocks. With a constantly shrinking paddle, you'll really need to finish the board as quickly as possible.

  • Buster Bros. Collection

> Buster Bros. Collection is originally a Playstation console game. It has three games in it, consisting of Buster Bros, Super Buster Bros, and Buster Buddies. Super Buster Bros is an updated version of its predecessor with improved graphics and the inclusion of “Panic Mode” which added 99 levels of feverish action. Buster Buddies was the last version of the series to be released in the arcades, featuring four original characters, different stages and more bonus items.

Capcom Puzzle World will be out later this year. Meanwhile, enjoy these four new screens!

first?

Not really ... and I don't mean post, either. ;)

"The first PSP system game with a screenshot mode. Stop any game at any time to take a snap shot of the moment"

If it's out later this year, it better be out before Loco Roco, because that game has a screenshot mode. And it's out in Europe already, so definitely not first over here. ;)

Dude!

...Man, I'd own anyone in Super Puzzle Fighter on the PS1.

I need this game.

...Man, I'd won anyone in Super Puzzle Fighter on any platform.

Jokes aside, this is exciting! I've actually owned every version of Puzzle Fighter (PS1, Saturn, Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, PC). I can finally play it on my PSP as well. How convenient!

there can only be one

I'd buy this purely for Super Puzzle Fighter...I've spent countless hours on this game, if only there was an infrastructure mode, I'd love to see how I match up against other peeps out there.

speculations

wondering if it will have the extra Sakura song (w/lyrics) that the GBA version had

hoping it also has all the secret characters – bat Morrigan, paper Mei Ling

gameplay - will it have auto-drop like in Dreamcast or will you have to hold down for faster drops (GBA, arcade, PS1)

looks great...

Those games were made originally for 4:3 TV/monitors. Are these games redone to take advantage of the wide PSP screen? I hope it isn't just 4:3 "zoomed/wide mode" in to fill the wide screen - if this is the case, the games will look all blurry, just like those screen shots...

This for me is the deciding factor for buying it or not.
