Brave StoryOne of the biggest hype for the PSP this season is Brave Story. We have written a feature on it before, but now, Famitsu tells us more about this anime and game collaboration. In a recent Famitsu article, they discussed the skills and the battle system involved in playing Brave Story. For this game, there will be three battle systems that will keep the game going. One system allows the character to have more power once his life is on the line. He will use the little energy he has left to go for one strong hit, something like Final Fantasy's limit break. Your attack can affect not only your immediate target but those that surround him as well. Hence your primary tactic is trying to hit two fools with one blow.

Another thing that the game boasts of is the specific powers that each character has. Not like we haven't seen this before, but the game takes pride in the individuality of each character with each one of them having a personal power or ability. The characters in the game will still have a staple set of abilities such as attack, defense and heal. With this RPG though, one important attribute to the game and perhaps something that would truly affect your skills, is the Bond System. In the game, you will establish relationship with other characters. It is important that you establish particular bonds with your players. If you have a higher bond with one, your combined attacks with that person is stronger. The PSP title is scheduled to be released on July 6, 2006 while the movie version will hit the screens two days later.

still waiting for a decent PSP RPG...

...but if any of them require 2.7, forget it. I'd rather play 8-bit Final Fantasy on an emu than give up my homebrew.

Totally!

This game rules, man. I can't wait to slay the evil dragons with my peerless balls of chedder cheese and a bit of soy sauce. This game also bas baddass rabbits who are named Bartomelhue (Bart-Tom-El-Hue). These awesome rabbits not only rape you when needed, but they also have sex with you, too. This game is ultra mature, like Kirby's Air Ride. I hope you people enjoy this game as much as I did when I was a young baby, just crawling out of your mom's womb. Thank you and peace!

*sigh*

@6 Look, just because you don't want the game is no reason to complain about it. I don't like GTA or DBZ Budokai, but you don't see me trolling the forums and news comments. Seriously, grow up. Making fun of the game isn't going to change anything, so why do it? Those of us who want an RPG on the PSP are going to buy it, no matter what you say. @5 Well, then you better start finding the ROMs. At the rate Sony's going, I'm betting every new game from today on is going to require Firmware 2.70+. Sony has no reason to make the game run on non-2.7 firmwares. @4 I hope you're wrong on both accounts, since I'd love a good RPG on the PSP. @3 Will it require 2.70+? Is the sun hot?
