Mercury Meltdown Screenshots |
Ó
If you
enjoyed controlling that blob of liquid metal through different
levels of mazes and obstacles in the first Mercury game, then this
newer version is definitely something you'll enjoy. Mercury Meltdown
is slated for a July 1, 2007 release. As expected from an entertaining game, Mercury Meltdown will have tougher obstacles as you level up, and the spill limit is also expected to increase with each level.
Check out these screenshots from the upcoming release.

Mercury Meltdown looks like it's been designed by a 5 year old kid with a very large black pen who's been told to draw over all the Mercury screenshots...
Was so looking forward to this game and all...

Gfx were perfect in the first one, I hope they change them before July 2007.. ;\

a game like this shouldn't have cartoony graphics.

y comment if you didnt even like the first game? perhaps you just trying to compensate for the fact your not smart enough to play it.

Sure the original was hard, this is what put people off the game + the fact that it was somewhat overshadowed by Lumines as the dominent puzzle game at the time. Hopefully they have made it good enough for players of all skill levels (including myself, who is on the Pro end of the scale, as well as the beginners)
As for that Macromedia Flash comment, get real, it has 168 levels in it's standard mode alone. Maybe play the original and actually see the scale of the levels in question, and then say it should be a Flash game.
From what I have heard elsewhere it is coming out July 2006, rather then 2007, which is a bit more realistic sounding from my point of view.

and i, for one, welcome the change
we already had one mercury with that look, which was great, but i'm all for new things and this looks like it will be pretty fun as well

that may also be why initially they've had to change the look - the interfacing with the tilt-sensor may cost too much processing power to keep the old graphics engine. Though I hope they'll still manage to go back to the old graphics.
However, I'm going to trust Archer's judgement on this one. I'm STILL playing his Jimmy White Whirlwind Snooker after all, now on the PSP through CaSTaway

- Still no official tilt sensor peripheral available for the PSP.
- "From the source" - the graphics are technically much better than the original and screenshots don't really show it. Style is a matter of personal taste ;)
