Kain takes a page out of Cecil's book in Dissidia Duodecim

Ó

Lightning will be shifting Paradigms in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy, and it appears fellow Dissidia newcomer Kain Highwind will be doing some shifting of his own, and that's without Golbez's mind control. His style, however, will be more like his best buddy Cecil's Dark Knight-Paladin transformations. He, too, will be going through a light-dark change.

His "light" transformation would be the Holy Dragoon from his stint in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. In this form, he gets to unleash the Pride of the Dragoon attack, as well as a few other skills specific to this form.

Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy launches this spring in Japan, while a Western release has already been confirmed as well. Hopefully by then, the localized game will have a less excruciating name.

I get that Kain is popular, but it's kind of boring having essentially the same character in the same game. having a bunch of characters with differrent swords is one thing, but having two dragoons who both use spears, who can both change to light and dark forms, is kind of boring.

Actually the light form of kain is different from cecil, for you could only access is when you've reached ex mode unlike cecil where you could change anytime vice versa :)

Well, considering I was disappointed almost to anger at having Kain and Cyan (Edgar and Celes would've been cool too) left out of the first Dissidia, I'm thrilled but skeptical about how Kain's being included in this one.

I'm just praying they did it right and had his fighting style consist of an early mastery(and unique surpassing mastery above other characters come endgame) of quick, elusive, flowing movements and a lot of aerial maneuverability , followed by quick, crushingly powerful attacks that close distance.

To be brief: If his play style isn't a through-and-through parallel to FF4's Jump attack (i.e. Elude -> hover -> charge-like-a-jouster-on-RAM-jets) then something's screwed up here.

And, on that note, I sigh in disappointment, knowing that Cyan will never be put in Dissidia because he was a weather-beaten, badass old warrior with a sorrowful story only adults would fully relate to. (aka JRPG marketing suicide.)

What I liked about the first Dissidia was that every character had a unique playstyle unlike a lot of games like Brawl or Tekken that have multiple characters that fight almost exactly the same. Unless I hear something about Kain that distinguishes him differently gameplay wise from Cecil I might just skip this one.
