Black (the tone, not skin colour) is commonly associated with baddies in films/games/books, etc. The good guy is always riding a white horse and coming through a beam of light, or whatever. Whether that's due to racism or not, I have no idea, but that's the way it is.

A lot of time when people want to portrait some bad guys in games or cartoons they make them black, why? becorse we have an idea of black color as a bad color. But every time you make the black guy in a cartoon bad like "the bad black guy in Donald duck" you build up an picture of black as an bad color. And althou your intentions may not be racism you help build up an anti feeling against black and in the long run black people. Becorse it´s never the white guy that's bad, it's always black.

I believe this whole subject is absolutely rediculous. I understand people getting offended based on race once in a while, but sometimes it really goes too far. You can't even see a movie with a black villian unless either the main hero is black, or the main hero has a black friend. If the villian is black, and the good guy is white, its considered racist. if the other way around (the villians are 95+% white, which i think is damn racist), nobody says anything about it.
Whites are always portrayed as the villians, the bad guys, the enemy, whatever. but when the villian just happens to not be white, its suddenly considered "racist". If people are seriously going to play the race card, they need to judge all races equally, which nobody does any more.

This is the first time ive posted but i feel i need to. I think people are missing the point here, its not simply because the character is black.. having a more representitive amount of black characters in games is certainly not racism.
These images could cause offense because of their striking likeness to racist images of black people in racisms golden era of a few years ago.

And for those of you who think that black = evil, and therefore it only makes sense that the bad character is black.. I think you need to consider why you believe bad = black, as this isnt a universal inate thing in human beings. There are many societies where black = good, because black is the colour of oil and soil and other things which help sustain life.
I would suggest that in the western world and many other parts of this Earth, that black is associated with badness because of several factors. And reinforced stereo type in cartoons etc isnt helping. Look at Disney films, and i think youll see a pattern.
This isnt to say black people or characters shouldnt play evil parts, or that colours cant be used to portray a mood or effect.. that would be absurd.
