Homebrew menu for 2.7

Before you get too excited and/or have a heart attack, this is not actual homebrew on firmware 2.7. This is a flash menu created by HellsPlumber that imitates the PSP's XMB and allows you to 'launch' flash games from this, as if you are on firmware 1.5.

Here's what HellsPlumber has said about this release:

Many PSP owners enjoyed homebrew games and applications on their PSP's.But many users were either tempted into updating to play Flash or forced to update to play the latest games. I updated my PSP and after 1 week wished I hadn't.

The Flash player was a really old version so a lot of available Flash can't play, the PSP can only handle about 2mb of Flash before displaying a "not enough memory" message and because the PSP has no keyboard, most Flash games cannot be played.

This is why I made the 2.7+ Homebrew Menu.

Many flash games and applications are included with this menu, ranging from Paint to Blackjack to an alarm clock . If you want to launch flash games from a PSP XMB-like interface, then this is for you!

Hellsplumber plans to add the ability to switch between themes (Cool Blue and Dark), an Internet Toolbar so your homepage can access the Homebrew Menu, and PSP Flash Radio - an Internet radio player like PSPRadio for the next release. Keep up the good work, HellsPlumbers!

haha

come on does this replace the 2.7 gui or is it a flash file.
by - 2006-07-20 17:33:38
yes!

Great app for 2.7 and 2.71 users.
by - 2006-07-20 17:38:05
Yay!

Yay for 2.7/2.71 users! At least it shows that there is hope for 2.7+ users to potentially use homebrew in the future. Some of the features seem pretty interesting and I'll probably download it and use it later when I have some free time on my hands.
by - 2006-07-20 17:38:14
!

It is for the web browser
by RaiderX - 2006-07-20 17:51:32

this thing sure looks liek crap. No offense, the idea is cool, but it coudl look a lot better. I emna did it take liek 5 min to make that GUI in paint or what? tha icons arent even proportioned properly and are all different sized and all *****ed up.

Ok.....

This is a flash menu created by HellsPlumber that imitates the PSP's XMB and allows you to 'launch' flash games from this, as if you are on firmware 1.5. ====================================== Now is it just me or is that really retarded? :| No offense to who ever made this, good job, but the writers here at QJ really need to type things out a bit differently. Sure it does do that I suppose, but I mean come on......it's just a flash file browser for the PSP's Web Browser :| Nothing special...... And to number 7.........you're hopeless.....ugh.......read what it is you moron......just a file browser...... ========================================== Good work to the guy who made it by the way :)
by - 2006-07-20 18:20:02
:(

This post is really dumb, for one its NOT A HOMEBREW MENU !!! Its a Flash File with Flash Games !!! And at number 7 dude its A *****ING FLASH FILE !!! THERE IS NO HOPE IT DIED WITH YOUR BRAIN !!!!!
by - 2006-07-20 18:28:49
nice!

hahaha i guess thats what they deserve... deserting psp homebrew scene for their lust of one sony game...
by - 2006-07-20 18:38:54
hmm

whenever i do this it says ''the content cannot be displayed'' ill tell you what i did exactly... i downloaded the stuff and then unzipped it to a folder then from there i put the homebrew folder and the menu folder into the G:/PSP and then renamed all the homebrew files to say "file".swf then put the picture in the photo file and overwrite my bookmarks with the new one by it says that ''the content cannot be displayed" did i have to unzip this all or could i have just put the whole file unzipped into the root of the memory card.....
by - 2006-07-20 18:44:52
...

yeh this is not a HOMEBREW! its a flash swf.
by - 2006-07-20 18:49:10
funny

I think it's funny that you have a disclaimer saying no one is allowed to use the "homebrew" in this package when it's just flash that you downloaded off the web (besides the menu) and all this flash was available in the portal I made over a month ago....
by - 2006-07-20 19:07:28
Hi! Loll

PSP 1.50 FOR EVER!!!! Does this works with Devhook 0.45? My PSP: 1.52 --> 2.01 --> 2.50 --> 1.50 --> 2.00 --> 1.50 --> 2.00 --> 1.50!!!
by - 2006-07-20 19:44:21
Pretty cool.

It's pretty cool; I just installed it just a while ago. Oh, and #12, no need to start calling people morons.
by - 2006-07-20 20:15:52
change the title, misleading...

really should change the title to "flash XMB style menu launcher" or something like that, I can't immagine how many 2.7+ user's hearts stopped.
by - 2006-07-20 20:46:13
BUSH ADMITS 911 WAS INSIDE JOB!!!

Before you get too excited and/or have a heart attack, this is not actually true, its something I made up to get your attention. Now look at that headline and don't tell me its not both bad journalism and stupidly misleading. Why would you put a headline like "Homebrew Menu for Firmware 2.7 Unveiled" and then heartlessly destroy everyones hope. Thats like going upto your best friend and saying "Dude...your mums dead........Nah only *****tin you, what are friends for...." Why would you do that? Its so pointless yet it makes me want to punch the pspupdates mod in the face, or more specifically, i want to punch Kyle M in the gob. What is wrong with pspupdates, they CRAVE so much attention its ridiculous, if its not writing and boasting about non-existent developments/vapourware *cough* Full Speed N64 EMU *cough*, its writing totally misleading headlines. This is totally unacceptable. I don't say this very often, but qj.net, please FIRE Kyle M as i could do a better job then this twit. I'm not one for bashing these mods but theres only so much one person can take before he blows . Again, this just questions pspupdates as a reliable source, with stupid n00b mods who can't think of headlines accordingly to their respected article, it makes you think how they became mods in the first place, as it stands, Kyle M is the biggest n0b head i have ever met, i am very sorry if i seem like i am singling him/her out, but this articles headline pretty much sums up the complete lack of a brain this person has. This site is really going down the p00per. Its amazing how people put up with this *****. The fact that many people are waiting for news like the headline suggests just shows how low these writers go to exploit a situation. One word can sum this up nicely, Ridiculous!!! Why do you people stand for this *****? Mogungo
by - 2006-07-20 21:16:22
jd

this game *****ing sucks or whatever the ***** this piece of ***** is and ppl who updated dont deserve homebrew
by - 2006-07-20 21:16:57
Ugh

This looks like it was created by an 8 year old. Looks like you got 5 minutes practice with Flash and decided to release it. I really do feel sorry for 2.7+2.71 users - seeing as this is all you get.
by - 2006-07-20 21:31:52

by - 2006-07-21 02:25:19
Good idea

But it looks like crap
by - 2006-07-21 05:28:26
What a load of *****e

Why bother at all. pspupdates really should show more discretion before posting crap updates like this
by - 2006-07-21 06:08:26
flamers suck

Well, I tried the app and though visually simple and with errors, the concept is very useful. Funny I see you all with time to come here to flame the author and the QJ updater, instead of making one app for the same thing and release it to all of us! I have several .swf (+100) and I need a PSP browser to them. Anyone has one good? (that I can browse and then with a click run the .swf) Stop wasting time and if you all can do better than the author then do it and post as lots of people with Devhook 0.45 are waiting to put their tons of .swf kicking.
by - 2006-07-21 07:20:50
wtf

Is it so hard to get a real designer on a project? God damn, people.
by RaiderX - 2006-07-21 10:41:42
ya #22

"What is wrong with pspupdates, they CRAVE so much attention its ridiculous, if its not writing and boasting about non-existent developments/vapourware *cough* Full Speed N64 EMU *cough*, its writing totally misleading headlines. This is totally unacceptable." I cant agree more. This iste used to be so great, but now you guys just post every useless peice of BS that comes out. AT LEAST make good headlines and put "RUMOR: blahblahblah..." for appropriate articles.
by - 2006-07-21 10:56:24
WTF

I downloaded it but in the readme's,it dont tell you how to get there in the flash menu.SO HOW WILL I USE IT!!!!!!
by - 2006-07-21 11:24:43
Portal

@ 33 The answer to your questions is yes. If you want a portal where you can browse your existing flash, (and with a lot more built in features) check out the one I built: http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t=56560
by - 2006-07-21 12:14:14
Where do i put everything?

Do i put it in the root of memory card or what. someone help it doesnt say where in the README.
by - 2006-07-21 13:49:34
GRRR

Forget this, someone hurry up with a 2.7 downgrader already. There are way too many of these flash menus.
by - 2006-07-21 14:25:08
It erases all your bookmarks

Do not download this. All your bookmarks will be overwritten when you put this on your PSP. Please learn from my mistake.
by - 2006-07-21 15:09:28
!!

@ 37 thanks for that Portal in your link! it's great and better than this one
by - 2006-07-25 02:51:48
How

How do you actually get this thing to work because it doesn't even tell you in the readmes
by - 2006-08-14 10:20:39
Got it workin

Copy Menu and Homebrew folders to the Root of your PSP and type in web browser: file:/menu/menu.swf Save in Bookmarks and edit the name to Homebrew Menu
by - 2006-08-15 04:20:32
Version 2

Version 2 Download http://files.filefront.com/27+Homebrew+Menu+Version+2exe/;5387882;;/fileinfo.html Homebrew Menu Website http://www.geocities.com/hellsplumber/ Delete version 1 (if you already have it) open the file and send the files to your psp or send to My Documents and then copy the HOMEBREW and MENU folders to the ROOT of your PSP, then type in web browser file:/menu/menu.swf
