Hoax of the day: Halo 3 on the PSP, or the experiment to see if people read

Okay, this isn't hard news, but it deserves posting for the same reasons why clips of George W. Bush dancing, awkwardly, in some foreign country deserve airing all over CNN from early morning until the evening highlights. A few days ago, there was this self-proclaimed hoax of Halo 3 being playable on the PlayStation Portable uploaded on YouTube. If you don't quite remember that, hit the jump to watch it.

Anyhow, several days after the Halo 3 on PSP hoax video was upload, video author IIxDylanxII revealed the reasons why he embarked on that little stunt of his. Apparently there was a method to the madness, and the ultimate purpose was to see how well people read, or if people bother to read through long bodies of text at all.

We'd like to explain it to you in detail, but we don't want to drown you in large bodies of text the way he did, so just click on the embed below and get a better idea. Oh, and before we go we're tagging this under off-topic and opinions and analysis, but we're not giving our take, we're asking for yours.

Well, what's your take on his experiment? Does IIxDylanxII's logic hold water? Did IIxDylanxII succeed in driving home a crucial point? Or does IIxDylanxII somehow ultimately contradict himself? Let us know in the comments. Keep it clean.

well, it's not an accurate representation is it? It can't be, when you've told people who know about it not to reply. To find that out you'd need to check the usual size of comments proportionally weighted by the amount of views something has. YouTube is a community for video sharing. Nobody gives a crap what is written in the author comments. If you seriously believe that people read whatever you wrote and then read every single comment before posting then you have certainly failed in life's little "experiment".

This is a world of point & click.. press a button and a video plays, nobody cares if there is associated comments with it. YouTube is not a Blog for you to spread propaganda via text.. it's a video diary of people with to much time on their hands.

Your experiment proves nothing beyond the fact that people post comments after watching videos. It doesn't matter if some of them PM'd you or not, this is more of a waste of time then actually wasting your time creating the first video and frankly I speak for the rest of the world when I say: we don't care, go away.

Hey, I understand what your trying to prove here, and its true, most people wont read information with the videos. Same applies to everything really, how many people read Readme files with anything, and then will complain when something doesnt work because they didnt read the readme...

Theoretically, this can be veiwed, not played, on the PSP using the Location Free TV hardware. It is already a known fact that this can be done with other consoles too. For this, you can use your Xbox 360 controller to play Halo 3 and use the PSP as the monitor (or T.V. if you will). That's probably how this guy made this video.
