Half Byte Loader AKA Valentine project announced; a homebrew loader for game exploits

I think you guys are already aware of the Malloxis PSP 6.20 SAVEDATA exploit that we posted yesterday that caused quite a stir in the community. But unfortunatey according to wololo, the exploit was released a little bit early and was supposed to be kept secret unless they could come up with something “useful” for it. So the dev, m0skit0 and ab5000 decided to go public to reveal their upcoming Half Byte Loader AKA "Valentine project", an easy to port user-mode homebrew loader for game exploits that is currently adapted to the Patapon 2 demo exploit. According to wololo:

There was an agreement with malloxis that this exploit had to be kept secret unless we could come up with something “useful” for it. But this confirms that the PSP scene has trust issues, so, way to go malloxis, probably nobody will help you anymore (and, let’s face it, you need help when it comes to these things).

M0skit0 and myself have been working on adapting m0skit0’s eLoader for this thing. It’s far from being ready yet, but it doesn’t hurt anymore to announce it I guess.

What we have currently is a partially working eLoader. It loads some homebrews, most of them crash at the loading screen, nothing that a player would call “interesting”. So this is for devs only. Documentation is poor, but we’ll get there.

We are publicly asking for help on developing this beast. If you think you can help, first try to compile the eLoader, understand its inner working, and load a homebrew. Then improve it and send us a patch. I’ll open a forum here to discuss these matters, but another one already exists on m0skit0’s forums as well.

For non devs, here’s some hope, a video demonstrating that Wagic almost loads fine through this exploit (again, don’t whine, it looks like crap, because we haven’t had enough time to work on that…but at least that’s proof we’re getting somewhere)

What is HB Loader?

Does this load ISO/CSO?
No, doubt will ever be.

Does this allow me to use emulators?
Not yet, but I hope it will soon.

I get sick of hearing people complaining about GEN CFWs, I currently am using both of GENs current CFWs one on a 1000 and one on a 3000, no probs on either one. Should the iso/cso be able to load, it will take over all 2000/3000 psps. PSPGo will have larger sales running homebrew and most important "games".

This sounds awsome.
My self, I have never ran a pirated game on my PSP (Had one since PSP-1000 launch).

I just love the homebrew apps and stuff. Like e-mail clients, calculators etc.
And it was always nice to be able to run your own games from the memory stick, instead of always switching up the UMD:s.

Now that I'v had my GO for a while, I'v missed all the homebrew goodness.
I hope this will bring GO owners some homebrewed bling bling if you know what I mean ^^

Can't wait to have 16 gigs worth of homebrew on me at all times. Maybe now Blind Assistant will become a practical reality. Having all the locations with you without having to be limited by streaming from a server.( Hot spots aren't prevalent here)

Here's a link a file that should save the developers some time with answering questions

This is the half byte loader pack WITH working and maby working games inside. It contains everything you need for running the eloader except the patapon 2 demo which I have provided a link to in the readme.
I made the instructions as simple and noob proof as possible so there will hopefully be alot less complaints/questions.
Also m0skit0 or wololo or noob81 or whoever else if you want you can distribute my pack / edit it feel free to do so, As long as you give me some credit for putting the pack together I'm happy :twisted:

WHAT THE FUCK. Back in the day NO. It was FUCKING easy back in the day. People were finding exploits and hacks like all you needed to do was edited a .plist or .dat file with a notepad! If it is so easssy today to hack a file to use homebrew, these threads wouldnt even exist! Your post makes it seem like YOU actually made a hack that helps everyone, etc.
