Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Stories for the PSP spotted on HMV *UPDATE* |
Listed in: PSP Tags: HMV, London, Rockstar Leeds
Ó
Talk about a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game for the PSP has been going on for quite some time now. While nothing really panned out in a rock-solid and official sense, QJ.NET reader Xeinix pointed us towards an HMV page that contained the following listing:

Like I said, I haven't heard anything official yet, although I do recall Rockstar Leeds' Gordon Hall saying that they're not ruling out a San Andreas Stories a while back. Keep checking back here for more updates.
Thanks to Xeinix for the tip!
*UPDATE*
A closer look at HMV's page shows this bubble-bursting tidbit:
There's no word from the developers about the game at this stage, but if you sign up by clicking the above link, we'll get in touch with you the second that the game is available to pre-order. If it ever does come out, that is.
Again, there is nothing official about this product page of HMV. Then again, knowing the reputation of HMV (they're one of the bigger retail stores in London), it could be possible that they do know something. It doesn't seem regular for them to be putting up product pages for products that are not even confirmed yet - especially if these pages are two years old. Or is it?
And the mystery and anticipation continues. We will be scouring for more info on this, and we promise to bring them to you as soon as we get them. We feel your advocacy.
Thanks to Insomnica from our forums!

And Oblivion Travels?
And Gran Turismo Mobile?
And and and?
This is just one of countless mistakes.

As much as I'd love to see a San Andreas Stories, I'm not going to believe this. Need more information. QJ put rumor in the title, cause technically there isn't anything official yet.

SA is one of the greatest games I've played. Throw the story away - I've invested hundreds of hours just driving around making mini games with friends (get full wanted level in certain time, reduce wanted level in certain time, recreate film scenes). haha. probably a bit mad there. but there was just so much to do. It was more RPG than GTA!

i'm not saying that i believe this 100%, but im just saying, dont knock it right away, give it some time.

"if theyre gonna make a GTA:SAS either one of three things will have to happen:
(a). The game is heavily compressed and many features are removed so it can fit on a dual-layer UMD which is 1.8GB (GTA:SA is about 4GB).
(b). GTA:SAS is released on multiple UMDs which is impracticable.
(c). GTA:SAS is released on a new HD-UMD which would only be compatible with future new-gen PSPs (if there are any) that can read it which is very unlikely. "
here are my SOLUTIONs
(d). It's released on multiple UMDs, but except one of them, other ones'll be installed on the memory stick (and it'll be encrypted specificly for that psp)
So it will require a lot MSPD space.
(e) Package's coming with a pre-installed MSPD and a UMD. It's pretty expensive unfortunately.

on the psp they would downgrade everything anyway, (you dont need high res textures on a psp) so for the original sa with out audio it could probably be knocked down to under 1GB
so anyway theres more but my point is I doubt its about umd space, maybe systems ram or something could be a problem with streaming the city for example?

When Liberty City Stories was released on PSP, Rockstar took the world of their beloved PS2 title GTA 3, created new characters and story, and added exciting new features such as ad-hoc WiFi multiplayer modes. Following a successful port to from PSP to PS2, it was only a matter of time until 2004's GTA: Vice City experienced the same destiny.
With San Andreas the only city in the GTA universe yet receive the Stories treatment, we wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar eventually end up bringing out 'San Andreas Stories' on PSP and/or PS2. There's no word from the developers about the game at this stage, but if you sign up by clicking the above link, we'll get in touch with you the second that the game is available to pre-order. If it ever does come out, that is.
(not looking it's offical, actually, it's just "hope" imo)
