Flamez demo for PSP |

Cogboy emailed us this hot info: Fanjita ported an old demo he had laying around, which simulates flames and is titled... Flamez. The demo looks like the picture above, and is complete with both 1.0 (eLoader) eboots and 1.50 eboot formats. If you're looking for a way to play with fire without getting burned (or arrested for arson), you can download Flamez right here.

If i made this, i'd probly be chuffed as punch with it, but thats because i can only just about do simple flash programming and i wouldn't upload it anywhere though, because of the simplicity, but fanjita? home brew may take a lllllllooooonnn nngggg time for 2.7+
ps. i love fanjita, he's great... if your bored how about conveting a decent GBA emulator or perhaps a decent ps1 emulator

I've been doing a lot of heavy duty brainwork recently, with staring at disassembly looking for exploits, and working on revamping the eLoader code.
I had this old demo code lying around from ... hmm, about 15 years ago ... so I figured it would give my brain a rest for an hour or two to quickly port it over to the PSP.
Originally we'd been intending to do something like putting it into the eLoader menu as an animated background, but the chances are that we won't get around to doing that for a while. So I figured I would just release it, with source, so that anyone wanting to mess around with similar code (and believe me, experimenting with 2D visual effects is a GREAT way to learn about all sorts of aspects of coding) would have somewhere to start. I consider it my little contribution to the psp-programming.com site, since we're reluctant to release the eLoader source. The source for Flamez is all open and anyone is welcome to do whatever they like with it.
Anyway, play with it, don't play with it, it's not supposed to be a big deal. Just something I did to take my mind off harder stuff, and that I released because there was no reason not to.
Anyway, it tickled me to be able to release Flamez on the Noobz site...

Granted i forgot to mention to pspupdates that it was open source and they didn't pick up on it themselves.
I think that this is a really cool effect, even though it may not be original, and i plan to use it in the title screen/menu of a game i am currently working on.
Things like these are invaluable tools for people like me who are just getting into programming.

Think slashdot. Posts should have relvancy icons or something that distinguishes the categories that different people would want to see it (i.e. programmers, music buffs, techno kiddies, etc). If I were browsing down the news, I can easily skip stuff that I don't care about, instead of reading 50 millions incarnations of lua paint before I see something decent.

I didn't bother reporting it to any sites (except to post it to psp-programming.com), it wasn't supposed to be a big deal.
Ah well, I had fun with it
