Fishy, fishy: PSP-3000 pulled out from PlayStation site, silent recall imminent? |
Ó

A couple of observant people in the PlayStation EU forums pointed out that almost every single mention of the PSP-3000 has been removed from the official PlayStation EU site's PSP section.
True enough, when you go to the website (see Via link) and check out the "Hardware" section of the PSP, there's no whiff nor word about the PSP Brite. Meanwhile, doing a keyword search on the EU site for "PSP-3000" now only gives you a handful of hits: one from an October 15 news item, and the rest being LGC 2008 press material from August. Why is that?
Over at the PlayStation US website, the same section (namely, PSP -> Hardware) does make mention of the PSP-3000, but with a minor tweak. As some folks at DCemu point out, the Ratchet-PSP bundle has a slight word change in the PSP-3000's description:
They also appear to have changed the description on the American site:
Originally
'This system features an improved LCD screen with the widest color gamut'
Now it says;
'This system features an advanced LCD screen with the widest color gamut'
It's pretty hard to deduce anything concrete out of these weird changes - maybe conspiracy theorists are just getting ahead of themselves. For all intents and purposes, we don't have to panic (yet?): maybe the PlayStation EU site is just undergoing some staggered construction for some PSP-3000 blow-out feature in the near future?
The only reason why this comes as a surprise (a pretty bothersome surprise) is because these discoveries were made following all those recent reports about the PSP-3000 interlacing issues features that people have been complaining about. With that in mind, online speculation now holds that Sony might be silently recalling the PSP-3000 and replacing the old units with "advanced" LCDs.
Care to pitch in your own theory?

Those sneaky people, they think we're stupid by saying it's 'advanced'. They're making us think its supposed to be part of the system!
A bunch of people on the official US PSP boards are reporting that they are getting emails from Amazon.com saying their Black PSP3000 pre-orders have been canceled. http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&thread.id=3401928
That's a good thing, hopefully it means Sony is trying to find a way to fix the problem before selling anymore bad systems.
We know exactly what they did. They changed it because it actually is an advanced LCD and definently not improved. By changing this *cough* secretly and saying saying those scanline problems are features (nice ones by the way), shows that they sure as hell will not fix or recall anything. They will come up with some *****ty excuse like the "feature"one or another like advance technology comes at a price ($170 to be exact) then walk away with our money, which was obviously blown on this crap, and say "what suckers!" But we shall not worry as someone will soon come along and give them a good kick in the ass and make them recall.
STFU dude and read the f-ing article again.
they should also call it the PSP-3100 to avoid confusion with faulty 3000 models public callback would of been nicer than a silent one also more costly so kudos to sony for at least addressing a known problem before its in major circulation
Before the PsP 3000 release there are reviews, issues about the screen but SONY didn't take early actions. that's no surprise now.
Cmon fix Fix FIx FIX!!!!!!!!!! it i wanna buy dah 3000 but not *****ed up cmon i luv dah psp *****in fix dat crap befopr november 18 bcuz i plan 2 buy it or ill go buy dah 360 i luv ya guys but make it right plzzzzzzzzzz
Thanks to the interlacing features I went and buyed brandspankingnew psp 2000 and I can hack it. People should not be cond in to buying 3000 they should wait for psp2 or whatever they will call it.
What do you think the 2000 was to the 1000 model? The 3000 to the 2000 would be your recalled PSP v3.0. Sony will probably follow suit to the Nindendo handheld line but they will probably use a different name since PSP has already had 3 effin versions.
Maybe now that they realize that we liked the old screens better, they're putting them in. They probably did it silently because they'd feel guilty for charging us the same price for something that's older (but better) and cheaper to manufacture. Sony: I can't wait to sell our consumers these awesome new PSPs with awesomer screens! Us: These screens aren't that great... Sony: Oh...but can't you see the scanlines? Isn't that what you want? Us: DO NOT WANT. Sony.
LOL If im an Idiot then your a nutcase B ITCH! I mention that already I said psp2 or what ever they call it, ofcourse they going to come up with a silly name again like 4000.
I think the fat PSP is the best one. Unlimited homebrew, durable METAL construction, iR port.
... Horrible Dpad, longer loading times, heavier and thicker. Given that I don't drop or break electronics and have no use at all for the iR port, and that my PSP-2000 seems to run all the homebrew I have... I'll go with the 2000 being the better model.
