The Warriors

We have here the first screenshots for the PSP version of Rockstar's The Warriors. It looks violent, doesn't it? Well, it's not exactly surprising, given that the Family Media Guide has named it to be one of the top ten most violent games back in 2005. The PSP version is new, however, it's PS2 version has been stirring up some great deal of controversy, and will be out later this week.

The game is an expansion of the story of a 1979 film with the same title. The movie's plot focuses on the members of a street gang who was framed for murder. Now, they have to get back safely to their turf at night, going through the treacherous New York backstreets. To fill in the gaps in the movie's plots, the game version provides a backstory to the characters, which weren't really explored in the film.

Says Sam Houser, Rockstar founder, the company was "looking forward to setting the definitive bar for the brawler genre" on the PSP. Although the game is set to be released on North American and European shelves by the end of the year, it is still yet unclear how much this version will retain from the movie, or from last year's console game's.

However, this article has some of the worst grammar I have ever read. I fear that the there is some truth to the correlations made between poor performance in school and excessive gaming.

I hope they change the tagging controls on this. Tracing out the graffiti designs with the PS2 analog stick was hard enough.

The Warriors for PS2 was a great game and still is. It is the best game I've bought in quite some time that was actually fun enough and long enough to be worth the money.
