Fan-made PSP commercial gets praises |
Ó
With material like this floating around on the net and with glowing remarks attached to the said material, one can't help but wonder if Sony's marketing department hasn't quite caught on yet with something which the masses want and something that's just simply nice to look at.

with the billboards and stuff,
with a guy walking around and looking at pictures on his psp, and looking up at billboards with the same pictures, and he's like, chasing a girl or something. does anyone know what i'm talking about?

i don't know why people are so amazed that its not made by sony... theres tons of people out there who do these things for fun, just because they can. Just because it's amazing its hard to believe anyone made it? lol its not very difficult if you know what your doing people.
And the funny thing is... everyone is saying how its better than the talking dustballs and stuff and that the talking dustballs commercial is stupid... however, why is it that everyone remembers the talking dustballs? Sony's marketing team is smarter than you think. I guarantee people will not remember this commercial a while from now, yet they will still remember the dustballs.
Just take a minute to think about why you remember the dustballs... you don't know why... but you just do.... that my friends, is what we call MARKETING.

a few companies have tried to sell there products for cheap with "fan made" videos...posting them to various website and then letting people tell other people....
i just dont buy into this

The only thing i can really complain about is how it doesnt mention that you need that location free player "base station" -(i forget what it's called) to actually watch tv live.
apart from that, yeh it does look good. far better than whatever the hell that dustball-thing was i saw the other day. a load of crap if you ask me.
Sony should start listening to it's feedback from the people who actually play the games, and instead of trying to crack down on homebrew games, applications and modifications, they should accept them.

In marketing you have to do more than have a memorable commercial... you have to market the product. Talking dustballs and squirrels (both borderline racist charactures) are memorable for their weirdness, and not the product. Does anyone remember what any game the dustballs were trying to sell? I know I don't.
The reason this commercial is better is because it actually tries to sell the product... the PSP. And it's visually interesting enough to keep the attention of the consumer. Sure it's not some crazy commercial that everyone is going to remember, but it features the product and not talking dustballs/squirrles/baseballs etc.

Even if I forget all about this fan made ad, it does alot more to entice me into making a purchase. I have to say there is no way I would be playing my Psp on a Bus, a tube or walking around with it in plain view in the street though.

The psp was released a year late, the same is likely to happen with the ps3
And when on the rare occasion titles get released early in europe, there either crap like gangs of london, or have a much superior version released later in the us ala pursuit force
So dont even think sony focusing on its european market. The US and Japan deffinetly come first to them

If they aired this, everybody would want a PSP!
This is what an ad is all about!
Showing the product! Not just some stupid dustballs!

Breath of Fire 3
Tales of Eternia
12 is coming out there soon. And a bleach games is gonna come out in europe. Its like we get nothign in america. Sure we may get some *****ty titles first but, you guys are getting good titles we dont even get at all.

Note to the Author: Take off 11 Secondes and it would be perfect for TV...
Many commercial these days are maximum 1 min.

Being a non-official comercial, they could add a "emulate your older systems" part..

WRONG, why would you want SONY to discover this site in the first place?
Second, Sony is not going on youtube and somehow type in the search button "Sony PSP commercial".
At last, it is a great commercial I would recommend the guy who made it to contact Sony and submit his "fan art".

Dust balls are funny and memorable, but what else does that commercial time buy you? Many people would still not know what a PSP is or what it's capable of.

I think humour is required in a commercial though.
Picture this...guy walking a hopping with his PSP. Have tons of fun...
When suddenly
He walks into a lamppost. Always funny!
Then the words "PSP, it's that addictive"
