Dissidia Duodecim is a fighting game, yes, but as Japanese gaming mag Famitsu reveals it's not just about beating people to death with giant swords. Square Enix have added a few new gameplay modes that turn the game into more than just your average brawler.

One such mode is the new Original Quest mode. Here you can create your own quests including between-battle events. You can put specific win conditions for the battles you decide to add or make up some new rules to help or hinder the player. Original rules made here -- such as increased critical hits or lower EX Gauge build up -- can also be applied outside of the Original Quest mode.

For events, you can choose what background, background music, and character icons to use. Some of the icons are reminiscent of original Final Fantasy sprites, so you can also recreate events from past games.

The Original Quest mode also includes an Edit Lock option which presumably keeps those who download your created quest from making changes to it if you so choose.

I still haven't mustered up the resolve to finish the original Dissidia's story. Will probably still get this just for Lightning though.

I am still unclear on what Quest Mode is. Is that you make up rules for a battle? to suite your playstyle (whether it be challenging or helpful). Can someone clear this up for me?

I was annoyed when I saw the original source, and I'm annoyed when I see it on QJ: It's Lord of Arms, not Road of arms dammit.
