Dreaming of the V2 PSP |
Listed in: PSP Tags:
It's way past April Fools but everybody
seems to want to fool (haha) everyone with their own “news” and
“versions” of the PSP2. Almost every PSP gamer is interested in
this subject – even though they know it must be a hoax. Frankly,
I'm interested in seeing pranksters' versions of this supposed Version 2 PSP. Why
not? It wouldn't hurt anyone, right?
Alright, here's one person's idea of what the V2 PSP might look like.
Called the Psi (interactive), it's only 4.5 inches long but it's got a 3-inch LCD screen with 16 million colors. It has the same pixel resolution as the original PSP so games would not have to be reformatted for this next-gen console. This would support WiFi, EVDO, UMTS and WiMax, meaning it could be used for music and video downloads, peer-to-peer gaming and wireless photo sharing. The best thing perhaps about this Psi is the touch screen that will provide users with a virtual keyboard.
Okay, you can now stop drooling. This isn't real; it's just one of those really, really, really great ideas for the V2 PSP. Too bad this isn't real. Not real. Not real. I have to remember that. Not real. But this V2 would have been great if it were real. (Sony, are you listening?)

seriously though, isn't it quite possible that sony might update/replace psp?
i think they need to consider that umd is most likely going down the tubes, and given that sony bought all those NAND flash bits and bobs it appears that maybe digital distribution and onboard hdds are going to be a killer combination.
so they may not be limited to having a mechanical disk drive, lets face it, it consumes a lot of power.
so i guess they'd want to put a cell processor (yeah right) in the next psp, give it a large onbaord flash chip, didn't samsung release a 32gig flash card the other week? i think psp could do with mobile phone capabilities, sony-ericsson do make phones, couldn't they somehow use some of that know how?
but given sony's investment in psp, umd, ps3 and bluray right now i wouldn't expect that much of a risky gambit like another new console any time soon

Sony cant expect any failure on the next PSP , everything gonna be absolutely good

I like the size the way it is; haven't had a pocket yet that didn't fit the PSP and whatever the hell else I wanted to put in it. Changes I'd like are flash-based games (instead of UMD) like NDS, a touchscreen (for OSK), and a linux live-cd game that I can boot when I want an ssh terminal.

No, the deal fell through because Nintendo did not want to give Sony its fair share, so Sony made its own Playstation, which promptly kicked Nintendo's butt, although I am sure that Nintendo DS fanboys reading the PSP BLOG will say otherwise.
Nintendo single-handedly created its worst enemy. Period.
