Demonstration video: Skype running on PSP Slim

Here's a video clip demonstrating the latest feature added to the repertoire of the PlayStation
Portable, the Skype functionality. Note that the service will only be activated for PSP-2000 models and not for the original one due to its memory limitations.

Anyway, the Skype function being added to the PSP has been rumored for quite some time already but it was only a couple of days ago that Sony categorically confirmed its existence, with more details pouring in at this year's currently running Consumer Electronics Show.

For those of you not quite familiar with how this program will be utilized in your handhelds, watch the video below as it will provide you with a good head start. It was said that Skype for the PSP will be launched some time during the last week of January and will coincide with a firmware update.

This is just payback on Sony's part.

Lets see Noobz's option completely own this. We'll have video and audio working perfectly while Sony still only have the slim doing voice.

end of January?? :D LOL

N00Bz owned Sony real bad again..

SIP is 100% better than commercialcr@p Skype.. and almost free..

I hope the homebrew scene will develop a better stuff with N00Bz concept, than Sony did with Skype support for the PSP Slims#!t..

not releasing even a limited version for the phat is pretty rude from Sony..

"wanna Skype? buy a slim"

that means we phat users can go f urselfs by Sony's stance..

that loox pretty bad for future fw updates.. :(

Maybe because Sony is the one who made the PSP and if it weren't for them then you wouldn't even have a PSP or homebrew. So maybe, just maybe, you should stop insulting them.

is that sony doesn't develop things with the US market (or EU market for that matter) as it's primary concern, hence why all the people whining are from US, EU, etc. Sony develops for the Japanese market as it's primary target, and the Japanese market is far more consumer driven than the US or EU. the japanese will buy a new PSP for what most americans and europeans consider silly reasons (in the exact same way that most japanese gamers will buy a new DS just because it's a new color and even though they already have 5 of them, and go ape-***** about how cool it is and not think twice about it all at the same time). a japanese consumer will go out and purchase a new PSP slim because they can't get skype on their old one. it's a market that's all about having the latest and greatest, far morre so than the US and EU... that's why Japan gets all the best stuff, cause they buy it, again and again and again...
