Genki has announced that they will be releasing the PSP game "Carnage Heart Portable" in this summer.

The PSP game "Carnage Heart Portable" is the latest title from the "Carnage Heart" series of the company from year 1995. This title is released after 7 years of the last release on "Zeus - Carnage Heart Second". This title has been equipped with the new "OKE (Over Kill Engine)" system for the robot battles.

In the game, OKE will use the settings of the parts on each robot to decide the performance of them. You won't be able to control the robot during the battle, but to watch them fighting on their own. This is the feature of this series, and will still be present in the PSP title.

You can fight with your friend's "OKE" via the wireless mode. You can also exchange data with your friend via a PC. You can send the OKE data via email, or offer as a download on your homepage. And further more, Genki will be opening an official server for data upload/download.

The 3D scene in the game is powered with a "rigidity simulation". The actions of the robots are all calculated through this simulation, to deliver better gaming experience on physical reality.

Sounds like a blatant ripoff of Armored Core: Formula Front, which is already out for PSP.

Am I missing something here? What does this have that Armored Core doesnt?

Armored Core had 5 sliders to determine your robots behavior. In Carnage Heart, you actually program him yourself. Those screenshots with the tiles & grid? That is how you write the software for the 'bot. Everything he does is up to you, search routines, battle tactics, etc.

This is the game that will finally make me upgrade my firmware. :(

You could program specific actions and styles to your AC in Formula Front too, you know.

And because you have never heard of it, it doesn't exist? This game is fantastic, especially for people considering computer science careers. I have always wanted to play a sequel and it now that there is one coming to America it may make the PSP worth buying.

This game pre-dates AC in the US. Thats why you have not heard it. Unlike the sliders in AC:AF where you simple adjusted the "formula" the AI uses. You can design a simple set of instuctions using the old fashions IF/AND/OR gates. It starts in the upper left hand corner with a simple IF gate. For example "is an enemy is within a [variable range] meters" If yes it will continue along the right side to the next instruction. if not it would go down to the next one.

Your OKE (or AC if you prefer) had to be programed to do most everything. Dodge, move, react to enviromental obsticals.

Armored Core is a novices game compared to Carnage Heart. Carnage Heart requiring much more time learning how to design the AI. instead of adjusting little sliders and hopeing they had the effect you desired.

To the comment about "bot behavior" yeah sure you could, in 30 sec blocks. My core will either kick your cores Butt or you core would kick my cores Butt in 30 secs. So what goos is that. Its behavior is only slighty alterable.

If You like the depth of AC on the PSP, but where left looking for more. Carnage heart (if this version is anything like the one on the PS that i wish I still owned), will leave you well satied.
