With so many fake news and videos floating around the scene lately, it's sometimes hard to distinguish what's real and what's not. But this one looks to good to be true as pspjoke, together with n00b81, has posted a screenshot of a potential save game exploit that they have discovered.

According to reports, the latest exploit works on firmware 6.20 and all PSP models, including the PSP 3000 and the PSP Go. Word has it that pspjoke is already working on the eLoader that could potentially ignite the PSP homebrew scene, again.

Developer's note:

It already is an exploit. already running code, already awesome.
but not just anyones gonna get it...
sorry, only important people in the scene and others i can trust.

Well, that's all for now folks, stay tune for further updates on this one.

Thanks to Sonamta for the tip!

Have these guys ever released anything in the past? As I have only been in the scene for a bit over two years, Dark_Alex and Team GEN are all I have known. I would love to have a GO runing homebrew. Hope this is real.

Good to see the scene is still alive and that they found this exploit, credit to them for the discovery. But what's with this exploit greediness? They have every right to keep it private, but I mean, putting it out there for everyone to access is only going to make development bloom faster instead of keeping it bundled to yourself and exclusive others.

Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

+3 # Thats because...Guest 2010-02-03 22:57
If they would release it...then we would be right back to square one... Sony would patch it not only with a firmware update..but with the game itself ( for go users )

So there is a reason for this...and I'd rather it be kept private than public atm.

+3 # RE: Nice.Guest 2010-02-03 23:15
Because releasing the exploit means Sony finds out which game is utilizing the exploit and all they have to do is patch it

Then tadah!

No more exploit.

The only thing that's going to truly open up the door to homebrew on newer model PSP's (specifically the PSP go) is if a non-game exploit is realsed. Like for example another .tiff exploit.

In theory will be a non game exploit, unless psp go has a UMD drive we all don't know about (well i guess it could be gamesave, but maybe not). I reckon it's ...... nah, better not say - sony might work it out before it's released.

The longer they keep it out of Sony's hands, the longer until it gets fixed. It makes sense to keep it locked up until someone finds a way to use it for something good.

You're right, it does hold the scene back a bit longer, but in the end it could just be worth the wait.

# Or.....ShinseiTom 2010-02-04 09:36
They could be screwing everyone, where Sony'll patch it anyway after getting wind of it (from a site like this....) then we're left with nothing in the end? Or, when they do finally reveal what game, etc etc, Sony will have had ample time to be ready for it.

See, I just don't see a reason to wait that isn't just BS. Who cares if it can do anything yet, release the info on what the game is so that as many people as possible can get it.

Hopefully it's a title many Go users would've purchased by now, I have about 13 psp games and like 10 ps1 games.

But since buying my GO, I rarely pick up my psp phat w/ all my emulators anyways. It would be great using the ps3 controller for emulators though

like a logical person would... If you don't release it, sure sony can't patch it. BUT NOBODY CAN USE IT, and you already have it. So what the fuck are you worrying about? Either don't tell anyone about it and stop being a snob, or actually release it. Not releasing it only keeps it from being patched becausenobody can use it.

# About anyone using it...gammy69er 2010-02-09 02:11
At the mo, it's just an exploit - still need to have software made to use the exploit. if no software, no one can do anything any good with it.
they keep it secret until they have the exploit, a loader, and a CFW to guve to everyone. Be thankful they hold back, and patient, they will release it soon enough.

# HmmPSPZorZ 2010-02-10 03:54
How do you propose Sony will patch this without knowing what game the exploit is based on? That's assuming this is even a game-based exploit (Though this thread has been assuming that from the start to begin with). So what if they had released info on what the game is? Would I go out and download the game? No. Why should I trust a rumor enough to buy a game I may not have been willing to spend money on? Your idea sounds like a good one, but the reality is that no one is going to get the game without hard evidence of an exploit. All we have now is (supposedly) an exploit, that doesn't mean there is a downgrader or homebrew launching app of any sort. If they release evidence, Sony patches the game in a day. If they do not, we aren't going to trust them enough to buy the game. What do you expect them to do? At least we can feel like homebrew might soon be possible, without them giving up the secret to Sony and jeopardizing the exploit.

Having the best of both worlds, homebrew with official content of Sony, just awesome (2nd time saying), by this I mean, access to PSN and play games for free.

God damn the games I got they're old or not my type, but still won't trade them.

In a sense, by doing that he also helped sony patch up a butt load of security holes that didn't need to be brought to light so soon. There were a lot of firmwares that weren't even required by games that got patched up due to this.

Regardless, DA is a legend and will always remain so.

So... because you cannot see atoms or particles they are fake too? Grow up. the world doesnt revolve around you and your ability to run someone elses code. If the devs dont want to release it to they public then thats their choice... you want to have a hack for your PSP... then do it yourself... and if you cant then stop whining. Its people like you that give this scene the bad rep that it has for people having a false sense of entitlement for public hacks.

I don't see why anyone should care about a user-mode exploit.

I see... because I said in that post that I was all for piracy... oh wait no I didnt. I simply stated that the people who develop these exploits dont owe the public shit. And having people from the public such as Johnny Bravo dismiss everything as fake because they dont have their hands on it should be smacked because they didnt do anything to contribute. Hell I know I could never come up with my own exploit and I will wait patiently until the time comes that we can enjoy CFW on all models. Fake or not doesnt matter to me, just to see that the community of Devs are making progress. Oh and just for the record... I use CFW on my PSP1000 and OFW on my Go, I purchase all my games that I enjoy on a regular basis. If CSO support is opened up or not I dont care because I still want to support the people making the games. Anyways I digress... my main point to the original post is dont dismiss something as fake just cause you cant do it, or see it yourself.

I dont see what all the fuss is about, Save game exploits are USER MODE ONLY. These happen time and time again, yet everyone seems so surprised. There are no known privilage elevation exploits. There will be no CFW for this, no ISO Loader. You will get nothing more than the ability to load homebrew. This is useless for PSP GO! as it will be patched, useless for anything under t88v2 as those are fully hacked, its ONLY usefull for t88v2 and t90 with FW over 5.03 (5.03 HEN is more capable)

Ive said it again and again, the only way you will get these properly hacked is a HARDWARE ATTACK aka pandora...

if only sony realized that there were thousands upon thousands of people arent going to buy a psp go until its cracked. such as myself and many others here. If sony were able to haphazardly release a FW with an exploit in it then they would be making alot more money than they are now.

I expect this to be a fake as well or just a hoax. These 2 guys appear out of nowhere, claiming they discovered an exploit in an unknown game that is on the sn store. For all we know, this can be a already patched game, this code isnt actually on any of the psn store games, or this code doesnt even work on the 6.20. PSPJOKE or N00b81. The guy says it is already an exploit and running and is gonna share it with the "important" ones, but when? No known dev has any news about this, and since when can noobs make their own exploit? PSPJoke claims to have had another not known dev to make his code an exploit..

I confirm it's real. Also, just because YOU don't know them doesn't mean they come of nowhere. pspjoke's been registered on lan.st for more than a year. N00b81's been a moderator on Dax's forums before you were born. He also helped in the shadows for the tiff Hello world that later led to ChickHEN, and actively helped m0skit0 on the open source eLoader for MOHH.
So, yeah, just because you don't know everyone doesn't mean they come of nowhere.

The copies are distributed to some devs. If you are not one, why should they give it to you? Can't you wait? Geez!!!

THIS IS URGENT FOR PSP GO USERS! Go users (who are willing to sacrifice future PSN store access for homebrew) need to get this title before $ony pulls it (I wont reveal it but if I can find it so can you & so can sony), as long as you get this title activated on your Go you will be set when/if any Eloader becomes available. If you don't purchase this title from PSN and $ony pulls it only PSP3K users will be able to use it via the UMD.

Why shouldn't everyone know? They should know BEFORE it is pulled, so that MORE Go users can use homebrew. It won't stop devs from working on this (they know as most do not to update) but it does give Sony more time to pull the game and Go owners less time to secure it. Also the devs have already said that they do not intend to reveal the title until AFTER its pulled/patched... WTF is that all about? They only care about the 3000 and not the Go. Don't even say it's about piracy because this exploit does not grant kernal access, this only enables homebrew (user mode) so whats the fuss? People knowing could only advance the Go scene (more people will have access to homebrew).

the pspgo is all about DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION. there is no way in hell they'll let an exploit go unpatched on a console that is all about digital sales.

good to see the scene is still active but for it to be a real hack/solution, it has to be CFW imo. like others have said, user mode hacks are meh.

guess we'll see soon enough. also, if the name of the download was mentioned on the internet, mentioning it here won't mean shit. what, do you think sony just watches this site? really? that naive?

The game name needs to be released, but at a universal time and not before. Meaning, there needs to be a website that will show the game after a certain amount of time has elapsed and everyone is ready and waiting to download it.

Or they need to bluff and say the game required is one other than the actual game and gauge how long Sony takes to react so we know their speed. In combination of these two tactics and the majority of people will win.

I remember all of those unreleased exploits that led to all those awesome hacks, and unlocked hardware. Then the fucking awesome homebrew software that coders were able to create to run with the hardware opened up by the unreleased exploit. They made the community explode, and led to some awesome stuff being created.........

Wait, that has NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED. If you arent going to release your exploit, then just shut the fuck up because you are as useless as sony at helping the homebrew community.

An unreleased exploit is exactly as fucking useless as an unfound exploit.
Thank God there are, or were, people like DA, Fanjita, Geohotz, and people that actually get things done, and use what they know to help the community, instead of just being a hoardy little self important bitch and not release anything.

I would absolutlly hate to see what would have become of the entire open source community (like for Linux) if they had all been as moronic as these new wanna be hardware hackers that have no interest in sharing their information.

Knowledge used to be free, then all those people retired, and this new wave of idiots stepped on their backs to get where they are now and stopped sharing.

I dont give a fuck about your selfrighteous, holier than though, rants about piracy or what the hell ever lame excuse you are using, you release your knowledge to help the community. The tools will be used for both good and bad, dont punish the good to fight the bad.

That goes for the lame ass "I dont want it to get patched" bullshit excuse as well. Of course it fucking will, when has a hack never been fucking patched? Its called cat and mouse, its the way it has been from the beggining. It will never change. Your shit will be patched, then you work to find another. That the entire fucking point. Its supposed to be the fact that its thousands of hackers vs. "The Man". They kill one, another gets them. If one man can make something, another can break it. This does not work if you dont ever release anything, making the whole fact that you even found an exploit worthless, because its doing just as much good as it was before you found it.

This new breed of console hackers is worthless.

They pulled BOTH Dragon Ball games, I am guessing that these two were the ones used for the exploits. Hope the devs had lots of "time" to work on the exploit (when they already had the game) while sacrificing all Go owners the chance to use the eventual exploit by keeping it secret. You think that Sony wouldn't figure out what game it was just because you were keeping the name on the hush? I guess work stops here because it is pulled... oh, no it doesn't? You mean the devs can continue to work on it even after it is pulled?! But I thought that it would "halt develpment" no it only halts Go owners the chance, meanwhile spreading disinfo to fool people into buying the wrong title, what a bunch of morons, you can code but that doesn't make you smart, otherwise you would have seen the solution here is not to withhold the name until sony pulls the title. :D

# RE: Another PSP exploit found, works on firmware 6.20 and all PSP modelsleetsoup 2010-02-28 19:18
there is a saying and it is oh, so true; believe nothing what you hear and only half of what you see. However, if i were a coder i would honestly tell you all (mostly) to f*ck yourselves; those who i would not should know who they are. the psp scene has gone to absolute shit and this is not due to any hoaxers, but the ungrateful and undeserving complainers who don't know a 1 from a 0. I am, basically, in complete disgust with the beggars. these comments are absolutely unbelievable and reflect all the evil and negativity that poisons our world. behind every successful person lies a pack of true haters and if it weren't for spirit and aspirations then nothing would exist. to paraphrase zeero there, all u bitching know-nothings can shove your psps 1000, 2000, 3000 and GO up your own asses; hows that for homebrew.
