Analyst predicts new PSP announcement later this Spring

So you already heard about the rumored Nintedo 3DS that we reported earlier, but what about the PSP? Well, if Lazard Capital’s main Analyst Colin Sebastian prediction is to believe, we could potentially see the true successor of the Sony's handheld later this spring. According to Sebastian:

While 3D games remain on the drawing board and not yet on store shelves, the emergence of new 3D game platforms could breathe more life into the hardware market. Along with the launch later this year of new motion sensing controllers for the PS3 and Xbox, there are several multiple growth drivers for the industry over the coming one-to-two years with new physical products.

We expect Sony to announce a new PSP handheld device this spring, and Nintendo is likely to announce an updated console in the coming year, which could also help to reinvigorate the market.

It might have 4 times the power of iPhone3GS which could be on bar of original xbox or more possibly .

Sony will never learn and always choose "horsepower" over other things. But I hope not this time

Microsoft named their new xbox as xbox360.

some say 360 means a total new turn around for gaming console.

but the truth they choose it just to have number 3 on it so it won't be preserved as old or inferior to their rival PS3

i read somewhere that sony was going to continue to support UMD, if this is true maybe this new console will be backwards compatible. seems to be a big thing nowadays. so ff agito for both consoles.

That would be sweet.

My PSP's ability to be a hand held PSX already makes up for the arguably sparse PSP library.

The ability for a handheld PS2 would be the cats pajamas IMO.

Sony will not make the PSP or the "PSP2" have PS2 support because the PS2 is still in development, and there are games that are STILL being made for it. Once the PS2 dies out completely, then we can hopefully see PS2 support on the PSP2 or maybe PSP3... depending how long the PS2 continues to live.

It's true that ps2 is still alive, but... for how long? if Sony releases a new psp2 with ps2 support, it's for sure that ps2 gets automatically a few years more in the market.

I prefer horsepower. I think Nintendo does better at innovating. Just look at the PSP-Go... epic fail. I prefer a more classical approach: more memory, better grapchics, more storage, better processor, etc., so they don't have an excuse for making crappy games... and if they do it, it really shows.
If the PSP2 comes with PSP and PS2 compatibility, I'll totally buy it, provided that they add the 2nd nub (and 2 more LR buttons). It would be epic win. The homebrew scene might be able to emulate Nintendo consoles even better with it XD. We could finally get DMC on a portable btw XDD. My only concern is the media... some kind of UMD2? (UMD is getting obsolete with current games) PSN games only? I hope both of them like now.

If they do make a new one it will most likely have a cam built in and be called the PSP-4000.
