A Somewhat Biased Unbiased Bomberman Match-up

Bomberman gets his makeover - Image 2 Bomberman makeover

When a Hudson Entertainment feature article is subtitled, "An unbiased comparison of two awesome games!" you know something is bound to be wrong. That's the case when someone tries to compare Bomberman for the PSP and Bomberman Act: Zero for the Xbox 360.

Now, the feature article tries to compare the merits of the PSP and Xbox 360 versions. According to the feature, the PSP game is blessed with the gameplay features such as taking place over 10 different worlds, and having classic bomberman levels as unlockable features. The Act Zero version, however, seems to be getting the dud criteria for winning points against the PSP version, such as "The bombermen boast over-sized left hands and spherical ass cheeks," and bouncing... things.

Of course, Bomberman Act: Zero does have greater multiplayer functionality, with up to 8 players trying to blow each other up at the same time, but even the author makes a self-referential remark as to how bad the game appears to reviewers. "From outside the industry, losers attack the revised Bomberman" sounds like a very slanted way of talking about the game for an unbiased comparison.

In any case, the comparison ends with a draw, saying that you can't go wrong with a Bomberman game. If you take the whole article (and the many reviews online) as an indication, however, you apparently can.

Still, there's two good things that come out from the article. First, it doesn't look like the actual view of Hudson, so they may just be thinking of going back to what made Bomberman such a big hit in the first place. Second, it makes for a funny photo comic.

What do you think: New Bomberman or Old Bomberman? Why'd you pick one over the other? Let us know!

» Megatron in the Transformers movie of 2007

That crome disaster of a Transformer is going to be Megatron. If anyone hasent already figured it out, it looks NOTHING like it should be.

I mean, the ONLY thing I can find similar with both of them is:

-they are both a shade of grey.

.....THAT'S ALL!

Seriously, this movie will suck, and I won't be watching it. I hope others will do the same

» Damn right #5

Bay has totally ruined the live action Transformers movie. All the TFs look like complete sh1t, no-one should go and see it, unless they're looking for 2 hours of torture.

It shouldn't even be called Transformers, it should be called Michael Bays Giant Shooty Fighty Robots Movie. It's got nothing to do with Transformers bar the name. It will be like watching the Super Mario Bros movie again.

It's very appropriate that Megatron is accompanied by the US Godzilla in the cartoon above, that was a total insult to the original as well.

» Bomberman to be or not to be

Bomberman needs to go back to what made it a big hit in the first place and that is the classic.

No stacking of items, no 3d view, no extras, nothing new.

Make Bomberman the classic version on Xbox 360 and you will have a big hit.

I have both since I am a big bomberman fan, but the 360 version sucks arrrrrrrsssssss !!!!! I do not recommend to buy this.

The PSP Version is a lot better, but stacking items and having to chose them to use them in the single player game sucks arrssssss tooo!!!!

Overall the PSP version is the version I wish I could play on my big screen if I had to chose.

I just want the basic classic bomberman, single player capability and multiplayer capability to play with atleast 4-6 players offline and online. That is what made it a big hit, sitting hours with your friends blowing the crap out of each other while getting drunk.

That is all I have to say

» old Bomberman

I'm not buying the new version for the 360.

I would have bought the old version had it been released.

That with on-line play would have been brilliant.

If it's not broken don't fix it.

» Act Zero isn't so bad..

I would have gotten the DS version, but I dont have a DS. I only have a 360, so I did what I had to do and support my Bomberman.

The single player is a joke. There is no local multiplayer. Live is the only saving grace of the game, but there are very few people with it.. so finding people to play is difficult.

» Bring back 2 dimensional goodness and simple gameplay

Bomberman was in it's Golden period back in the SNES versions, 3-5.

Saturn Bomberman was great because it expanded the screen real estate and number of players to 10 but kept the traditional gameplay.

It's for this reason that I prefer the DS version to the PSP version. No pointless 3D graphics and no slowdown during screen wide explosions. Although neither has managed to capture the unadulturated fun of the 16 bit era.
