As we've mentioned in earlier articles, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas on the PSP won't simply be a port of the 360 and PS3 versions, the handheld version will have a different storyline as well as characters. Of course the setting will still be in the gambling capital of the world, but there are a lot of other elements that will remain exclusive to the PSP.

On the PSP, you'll get to take the role of Rainbow operative Brian Armstrong who takes on what seems to be your ordinary rescue mission with the help of sniper specialist Shawn Rivers. But what do you know, it's NOT just your ordinary mission after all!*fake gasps* So, to make the mission more interesting, put in a terrorist organization led by an evil guy named Lucas Picares who's set on poisoning Vegas residents via the local public water supply. And what do you do? Naturally, you try and stop Picares and his crew from putting their evil plans into action.

A few notes about the game's single player and multiplayer mode: the solo player will be able to customize the controls where you can put movement and viewing on the face buttons, D pad, or analog stick. You'll also be able to back up against cover in a third-person view, and use a lock-on feature that'll let you choose between body and headshots.

As for the multiplayer, the six-player offering will work with both ad hoc and infrastructure modes. Ubisoft also says that "classic" multiplayer maps from previous games will be available on the PSP. The game will also feature Survival and team survival modes will be on offer, which are like Rainbow Six's versions of deathmatch and team deathmatch.

The under-the-door snake camera will let you take a sneaking-up view of what's in store for you in the next room. Another cool feature in the game is that you'll get to switch from Armstrong to Rivers at certain points in the game. The PSP isn't exactly known to be the best console for FPS games, so here's to hoping that Rainbow Six will take the first step in changing exactly that. Rainbow Six: Vegas for the PSP is slated for release on December 5th.
