If you'd rather go with a text-only tutorial instead of watching a video, here's one from PSP-Hacks. This involves using PSARDumper to make your own version.txt. You can download the latest PSARDumper release here. As with any downgrading tutorial, please be very careful when doing this as the possibility of bricking your PSP exists. If you're unsure of any of the steps, just stay on 6.20 TN.

6.20 TN-B

Start 6.20 TN-B
Download the following files:
- PSARDumper
- The OFW (EBOOT.PBP) update that you want to downgrade to. PSP-Hacks has a comprehensive download list here.
Place PSARDumper in the PSP/GAME folder like you would any other homebrew and copy the OFW EBOOT.PBP to the root of your memory stick
Start PSARDumper and press circle
After the program finishes, connect the USB cable to your PSP and navigate to the folder F0, which should now be at the root of your memory stick
Copy /F0/vsh/etc/version.txt to /seplugins/version.txt
Go back to your PSP XMB and press select to bring up the VSH menu. Go to “Fake Index.dat” and change it to “enabled”. Next, select “restart vsh”
Copy the OFW EBOOT.PBP to “PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP”
On your PSP start the OFW installation as you would any other firmware update
After it finishes, the PSP will restart and a blue screen will appear saying that the PSP settings are invalid. Press circle and the PSP will restore default settings and restart. You now have OFW installed.

Please let me know if this works on PSP 3000 models. I already have 5.03 on my Ratchet and Clank PSP. My sister just got a PSP 3000 Core Pack (model 3001)with OFW 6.20 and I would like downgrade her PSP so we can play homebrew games. Hbl, as great as it is, doesn't support all homebrew games, but 5.03 pretty much does the job.

Not really. You can't downgrade without using TN's HEN...at least not yet.

i had a psp3004 with date code 8C, and i downgraded my unit successfully. just follow the steps and you have nothing to worry about. pspgo can go as low as 5.70 OFW only, which i think is useless for now since there is no cfwenabler for that version. of you go lower than 5.70 for pspgo, it will brick.

4g psp 3000's that come with stock ofw 5.70 cant go bellow 5.70 or its a 100% brick same goes for psp go's and im not sure about the psp 2000 with the different mobo basicly this allows psp that can go down to 4.20 to move to chickHEN cause that exploit is completley stable and has been in development for a long time. TN-Hen is mostly only for psp go users and psp 3000 4g models
@psp-3004rr i suggest you just use the tn HEN it does almost all the same things as ChickHEN and runs iso/cso's and almost every homebrew game/app just give it time and it will be just like chickHEN possibly better

can the new pspident identify psp3k with 4g nobo? if so, just use it when you on HEN mode in 6.20, now if your psp3.k is 4g, i think you're screwed, you can't go below 5.70, that's what others say, and i think you should listen

PSP 3000′s with 03g Modules cannot be downgraded past 5.00 (or 4.20 if a dump is made available)

PSP 3000′s with 04g Modules cannot be downgraded past 6.00 (or 5.70 if a dump is made available)

PSP Go’s used 05g Modules, which is the same as the 04g.

You can check by using PSPident v0.6, If it says 03g, then you have a 03g, if it says it cannot identify your motherboard and version, its most likely a 04g.

You can also check by the firmware it came with, if it came with 5.70 or above, its most likely a 04g.

I myself own a 3006 w/ 04g Modules, but I wouldn’t bother to downgrade, I did not wait for TN’s HEN to use another person’s HEN.

for people that want iso loader to work i was just thinking about using "Custom Firmware 5.50 Prometheus-3 v4 Installer"

my reason for this is because i have a psp go with 6.20 tn hen b and i figured this could possibly install the files we need for the psp to be custom firmware files so we dont have to use hen...

so if one of you try this out let me know if it works please thanks

In the video it says to copy the HEN file to PSP/GAME. But there is no HEN file in the download that it provides you with.

The 6.20 TN-B download "that already includes the first three items in the list above" does NOT include X:/PSP/GAME/HEN/EBOOT.PBP !

Not even X:/HBL/GAME/EBOOT.PBP (if you wanna start it directly).

Actually... According to the readme "the Homebrew Loader should start, running the "Hen" automatically".

I just checked the following EBOOT files and their MD5 match:

d0dea109c10a752ce283aec81141fa84 /hbl/menu/EBOOT.PBP
d0dea109c10a752ce283aec81141fa84 /PSP/GAME/HEN/EBOOT.PBP

They are identical. So yeah... Loading the game should get you into 6.20 TN-B. Next time maybe I should RTFM.

hey guys i have a psp 2000 with ta 088v1 mobo.. on OFW 6.20 .. Can i use hellcats recovery flasher 1.6 from 6.20 TN-B and install 5.00 m33-6 directly??
My mobo is hackable i'm sure but can't get hands on a Pandora battery..
