1. 6.20 TN-A released!
2. Download and more

Developer's note:

TN HEN allows you to execute homebrews and plugins. It includes a TN VSH Menu for some nifty features. It's similar to the Custom Firmware - without ISO/CSO and PSX support.

Requirements:

  • A PSP with 6.20 installed.

Instructions:

  • Install Patapon Demo & HBL on your PSP.
  • Extract EBOOT.PBP to /PSP/GAME/HEN/EBOOT.PBP, or to /HBL/GAME/EBOOT.PBP if you want to launch it directly.
  • Launch Patapon Demo and load exploited savedata (Continue).
  • Now, it jumps into HEN mode.
  • Enjoy homebrews and plugins (you'll lost HEN mode, if you reset/shutdown the device or if your PSP is crashed).

As stated by TN before, the homebrew enabler will not support any ISOs/CSOs, but several teams are reportedly working on game loaders to solve the problem.

For those that will have trouble installing this, follow these simple directions:

If it crashes on you, create a folder within the hbl folder and name it: GAME

Once you've done that, drag the HEN into the GAME folder and launch Patapon and execute the exploit. Once the HBL menu is done loading, it will take you back to the XMB and it should work.

Oh shut the fuck up you greedy selfish bitch. This was released early because TotalNoob released v2 to PSPGen, and they didnt want to have to release it 24 hours after releasing v1, which is why it was released today.

Yup, it was released with a major memory leak and very little compatibility for homebrew not built specifically to run under it's requirements... So, now even as a dev myself, I ask why the delay? Shouldn't the memory leak, the not working on second boot, not working with the Slim/GO's extra 32Mb's, etc... have been fixed? Wasn't bug squashing the reason behind the delay?

While I'm impressed at TN's hacking ability(excelle nt job there), I'm not impressed by how this was released or the state it was released in. It could have been released in the current state much sooner with a warning about current known bugs.

Kreationz

P.S I still wish TN and PSPGen the best of luck on future revisions/hacks/firmware. (I use 5.50 Gen-D3 Prometheus v4 myself)

+3 # Dohh!!Kreationz 2010-12-24 00:30
No, that's just being a noob and not understanding what HEN is for. HEN(Homebrew Enabler) does not equal CFWEN(Custom Firmware Enabler). It allows you to do what you normally can do with CFW while still using OFW. It does nothing to your fimware it a RAM hack not a Firmware hack.

P.S. A 3000/GO doesn't "Semi-brick". He's lucky the install failed or he would have a brick that Sony would NOT fix.

Which PSP model?

You should know to never downgrade a PSP below the firmware version it originally shipped with, and D3 is based on 5.50 whereas later PSP models (including EVERY Go) shipped with later.

FINALLY!!!
Not for him releasing it now but for it to actually be real.
There has been so many fake releases its about time one was real.

But, whats the use of it?
HBL loads homebrew so what is this really good for? IF it loaded ISOs then yea, it'll be good but as it does nothing new its more of a joke than anything.

I will say thanks to the dev who gets ISOs to work on the PSP GO.

It allows kernel level homebrew to work, at least. Opens the gate for your game loaders, and also lets you run things like SNES9x_tyl releases, which are way faster. Playing Mario RPG on my Big Boss 3000 now, finally.

a ISO Loader would have to go through parts of the FLASH which this USER Exploit does NOT have access to so let me just clarify with all you kids who have no clue about our *Scene* and that is...this is a HOMEBREW ENABLER, not a ISO Loader and will NOT be a ISO loader until a Kernal access is found.

Start supporting our developers a bit more or games wont be out for Christmas...have a good holiday guys.

This HEN is kernel access. That's the entire point of it (considering we've had HBL for a while, which was user mode).

Also, this is worse than current permanent CFWs (as in it does less, not more), don't upgrade.

Thanks for the HEN. Its running on PSP-go but has problems ( maybe its better to call it problems of homebrews instead of HEN ). Homebrews like PMPlayer or Bookr which open files cant see internal storage of PSP-go. But they run smoothly on memory stick.

Reply

# RE: ihsanRydian 2010-12-26 08:40
Yes, we've never had homebrew with file access on the Go outside of user mode before, so accessing the Go's internal storage is something that's never been done. Whether the homebrew will be updated with that ability depends on the author (or public interest if it's open-source).

Quoting crait:
Only one of the HEN's for the PSP were like that. All others in the past flashed your PSP to allow homebrew, and this one will do the same.

"HEN differs from one part of Eloader because it allows to run homebrew from the XMB, and secondly, the traditional custom firmware because we need to revive the HEN each time you restart the console."

You were saying?

Update to 6.20, and use this HEN. Then run the ISO Loader (which was just released), then run ISO files.

Each time you start the PSP up (from being fully off, not from sleep mode) you will need to run the HEN (through Patapon 2), then the ISO loader program, then you can run ISOs.

Just want to let people know. Wally and Salvy compiled a special release for 6.20 TN HEN users. DaedalusX64 for 6.20 TN

This was need due to HEN not supporting the full 64Mb on the GO. You should also delete the kernelbuttons.prx from the DX64 folder. HEN doesn't support the method we use to link to the Home button. Also when using this, I recommend switching to the classic style menu. This is to avoid a crash that can lead to having to re-enable HEN.

It's a HEN.

You run it and it enables homebrew (until you shut the PSP off).

Just update to 5.03 and install a normal custom firmware (5.00 M33-6 or 5.50 GEN-D3).

If by "not working" you mean, "doesn't load homebrew, crashing", try this:

1. with HEN loaded and psp on, take out mem stick

2. press select, and choose "restart VSH"

3. After it restarts, reinsert mem stick, and run homebrew.

This works in my 3010 PSP, hope it helps you.
