"Yes PS4" analysts VS. "No PS4" analysts

PS4???How interesting. A catfight among analysts.

In response to Mr. Yuta "No PS4 Anytime Soon" Sakurai, other games industry analysts have come out of the woodwork to - gasp! - disagree and point to a brighter future ahead for Sony's gaming hardware division, so reports Next Generation.

Lazard Capital Market's Colin Sebastian set about to take Sakurai's analysis down on a couple of points. The management shuffle that made Ken Kutaragi Chairman/CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and Kaz Hirai the new COO had been in planning for a long time already. That - and Jack Tretton taking over SCEA - should benefit further development on the Cell and Blu-Ray, both of which had troubled pre-launch development.

Then there's Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter, who called Sakurai's analysis "naive." In fact, he sees Kutaragi's promotion as a step up - rather than as removing him from gaming hardware development. Such a promotion could put him in the pipeline to succeed current Sony CEO Howard Stringer - and when the Daddy of PS takes over the Sony helm, it can mean good things for Sony gaming.

No party-pooping word from Merrill Lynch about the management shuffles and new promotions.

Interestingly, Pachter also thinks that while there will be a PS4, he also believes that the next-next-gen consoles would be upgrades rather than total overhauls of the current standards.

» ugh

I think these analysts need a friggin hobby. Two weeks after the launch of PS3 and they are arguing about PS4.

To those analysts: You are total boneheads.

» Why?

Why are people even talking about the PS4? The PS3 was just released and if/when the PS4 comes out, people are going to forget about all of this crap.

by Granavatar_Ofme - 2006-12-01 18:19
» A fact you people should know.

Analist are paid by other companies to say great stuff or trash. Also most of them end killing Themselves.

They enjoy jumping from high building and taking baths with toasters or Radios.

But really they should come with another name,i will pass the ps4 since it doesnt sounds that bad in fact sounds better than ps3 but do something about ps5 at least call it PsV.

by Granavatar_ofMe - 2006-12-01 18:21
» Also

We are not so sure there would be a ps4 specially because the future of the ps3 looks grey. But if nokia didnt give up...Sony wont either.

» it must be nice being an "Analyst"

OF COURSE!there will be a PS4. This is The Sony Playstation we're talking about here, not the freaking Gizmondo. Does anybody remember (and the "Analysts" too) that the Sony Playstation monster is the king of the videogames industry? Going from what I've seen on that first generation Off-Road racing game that is running on the PS3 kiosk and from all the support and GREAT Games Library that the Playstation has used to live on the throne , there is Nuthin but killer apps about to start raining on the PS3. And then, wash, rinse, repeat,=PS4. Give the PS3 about 12 months to build up it's military arsenal, errr...Games Library, to defend the throne that the 360 is trying to knock the Playstation off of.

» Geez.

I guess people will never stop bashing Sony.

by theTick197 - 2006-12-02 12:43
» that is an ugly console

What happened to all of the sleek consoles? That thing looks like an old sega system!

by Annony - 2006-12-02 19:22
» I pre-d1ck-she-ate...

Every Analyst on earth: "I, Nostradumba$$, predict that there either WILL or WILL NOT be a Playstation 4 between Now and Never."

I hate these people...

» the friggin controller

yeah, and change the goddamn controller.

by wtf - 2006-12-03 02:07
» damn fanboys

yeah......right. i am not impartial to any system, but sony has a bad history of shooting themselves in the foot. like say the ps2.... they came out with a handheld that was MORE powerful (LOL), PSP i had one myself and bricked it, but i am not getting another one because i was starting to get sick of the garbage games that being made for it. So Sony's track record as of late is not too good, so why would i throw 700 cdn on a machine that is going to be sub-par?

» 15+years?maybe

I'm thinking that the ps3 will have to take a firm foothold in (most)homes - like the ps2 did, and the technology to improve on the playstation would have to be made more affordable...

..but forget the ps4, I believe the ps3's real power won't be fully realized for a while, (much like the ps2's wasn't) then nintendo, microsoft, etc will die off - old relics of an ancient world

by Spector - 2006-12-03 16:39
» yea

It seems to be quite fashionable these days, but everyone is always gunning at the top.

» ...

if game consoles turn into a hardware race where I have to buy the next best thing every friggin year or two then i'll drop these games for a better form of entertainment - just like the pc

by shifty__ - 2006-12-06 13:51
» NOTE:

A PC will also get out of date, after a few years, so consider that too. Just like yesterday was all about the new Dual Core processors, now the next hype coming up will be quad core. Then in ten years, we will look back at ourselves and say, "Pfffftt..What were we thinking, 256 core is way better than 128" So just because you think the PC is a better form of entertainment, keep this in mind.

The world around us is changing dramatically, each second, new techneology is being made, stuff that may only be compatible with the "newer thing," whatever that may be. Be it tommorow's PC, or the next Playstation, the world will change in all areas, not just in the form of game consoles
