Yamauchi unsure if Gran Turismo 6 will make it to the PS3

It hasn't even been a week since the launch of Gran Turismo 5 and already we're talking about the next installment in the series. For certain, a franchise that big will come with another follow-up. But taking a look at the length of development and delays for GT5, it makes you wonder if Polyphony Digital can have the next one out within the PS3's lifetime, or will there be a PS4 by then?

That was the question asked by Eurogamer in an interview with Polyphony Digital chief Kazunori Yamauchi. Will Gran Turismo 6 still make it to the PS3? Or will it be joining the next PlayStation console lineup?

Yeah, it's still a long road ahead.

"Ten years ago it was easier to predict what would happen three years in the future," Yamauchi said. "Nowadays no-one knows what happens in the future. In three years, we don't know what will happen."

Last year, then SCEE president David Reeves said that he isn't sure if the PS3 will last up to its projected ten-year lifespan. Rumors surfaced December last year that Sony is already working on a multi-core SPU for a possible PS4, which may be completed by 2012 or 2013.

One Gran Turismo is well enough per console. Maybe next time it should pop at the start, not after 4 years, lol. The graphics are well enough, they should focus on more and more cars!!, and they should make a premium version of each cars!!! Then they could expand to F1, and after that I don't know, it's enough for this gen if they do all that, lol. Then they can start the next gen sooner with the next engine, lol.

i think gt5 has enough content till the ps5 comes out...the game is amazing

maybe we could get a patch which adds a cockpit view to all the standard cars. They could just use one cockpit view for all the 800 standard cars.

he sounded pretty disapointed with the ps3. It would be awsome if it went to PC, not complaining though i love my PS3 and GT5

so that means Sony already inform you guys that a new console is coming out? BD is still new for me and i just brought the white version.
