Yamauchi on developing Gran Turismo for the PlayStation: I've always felt restricted

Despite the numerous delays, we'd have to say Gran Turismo 5 is definitely looking sweet. But did you know that Kazunori Yamauchi himself is not satisfied with it? In a recent interview, the Polyphony Digital boss revealed that not even the powerful PS3 system could handle the vision he had for the fifth installment of the racing game franchise.

Yamauchi has always been known to be a rigid perfectionist when it comes to their games. However, this is probably the first time we're hearing him say how he's always felt "restricted" with every PlayStation model he's worked with, this he revealed in an interview for the latest issue of Esquire UK.

 

 

 

"Software has to be created under the restriction of the hardware. With each new PlayStation, the vessel has become bigger, but it's still not enough. With Gran Turismo 5 we've made it as clean and beautiful as possible within the confines of the space we're given - but of course there's a lot more that we want to put in."

 

 

 

It is probably due to this discontent that the company's already started working on Gran Turismo 6, even when GT 5 has yet to make its way out to the market. If it's any consolation, though, it's already been confirmed to have gone gold just last week.

 

 

 

Okay, that's still not much of a consolation. We want a date, stat.

Most probably he wanted to put us into a real racing car, race on a real track, and watch how most of us blow to pieces as the inevitable crashes occur lol.

is never going to be happy till he has a simulator machine that can litterally replicate cars in a program without any compromise. It'll have to even build up grease and crap under teh hood like in real life for this guy to be satisfied.

this guy should just make real race cars remote control compatible and mount a camera to the hood, then he'll be happy. This guy NEEDS restrictions, he would find a way to make even the most powerful pcs beg for mercy

well, he started the project BEFORE the PS3 was out there... probably with soooo many delays and t new hardware coming and forgiving none...he must be worried that the hardware he started working on YEARS ago, for todays standard is lacking on some department.
