Yamauchi: GT5 Japan delay is because it isn't finished yet

Yes, you surmised as much. Gran Turismo 5 is delayed yet again because it's still not finished. No less than Polyphony Digital big boss, Kazunori Yamauchi, confirmed this fact in an interview with USA Today.

Yamauchi revealed in the interview that the game, simply put, isn't done up until now. If it's any consolation though, it's definitely nearing completion. "About 90% of the game is done. We are just working on the last 10% and polishing everything up." That's definitely an improvement from the 65% completion they reported back in September, right?

Anyway, he also said that the PlayStation Motion Controller will also be incorporated in the game, albeit can only be used in certain sections of the game. "I might be used to maybe control the user interface like you would a mouse, but that's the extent we would use it for," he explained.

Now, instead of a "March 2010" release date for Japan, they're back to that frustrating "TBA" slate. As for Europe, it's coming "in due course".

erm... maybe they should just stick with the TBA window instead of putting a date and then retracting later on. it just adds to the frustration of those who have been waiting for this game -- for the past three years!

am sure it's gonna be great and all, but still, just add in the date when they're sure it's really gonna be the final deal.

what annoys me is that during e3 he stated GT5 is ready to be released at any time

Well, 'could' is the operative word in that sentence.

However, I am sure tons of features would be missing and there would not be as much polish on the game.

They have obviously have had a playable game for a looong time. GT5 Prologue has been out for ages, but would you be happy with something like that as the final product ?

Not that I'm trying to make excuses for them, but this is just par for the course when it comes to Gran Turismo games. Any date that they say it will be available just simply doesn't hold any weight IMO. I'll believe it when I'm playing it.

The good thing about this is that in the mean time, Logitech steering wheels are getting cheaper.

as long as 50 kilometers per hour is almost standing still, they can keep the game -.-
driving simulator - my ass! (at least from what I could tell from the demo)

I spent all of yesterday driving across country and when i came back to town, i got pulled over by a cop for speeding 65 kph in a 50 zone... i felt like i was only doing 35. Excessive speed creates the illusion of Lack of momentum at lower speeds. This is the real DRIVING simulator - not some BS racing game (don't tell me - XB 360 and Forza 3 right - or is it NFS Shift - they are both as unrealistic as each other)

Sorry, but i REEEEAAAAAALLLL LLLY want this game. It's going to be maybe the only game i every buy on release day, that is if it get's released while i'm still able to walk/live.
