Yamauchi: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue possible for PC, damage system to affect handling |
Ó
Time constraints have prevented Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5: Prologue from crossing over to Sony's PlayStation Portable. What chance does rival consoles have? In a recent derStandard interview, Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi maintains that GT5: Prologue is only for the Sony PlayStation 3 and is an improbable bet to go multi-platform - well, except maybe for PC.
Yamauchi has gone on record to say that the PC is not being counted out yet as a possible destination. However, he didn't confirm it for the PC either. What he did verify again was the arrival of the much-anticipated damage system, giving more information for the car deformation feature.
Coming this autumn via a PlayStation Network update, the damage system will also affect the car's handling. Now, that gives you more incentive to bash your opponent.
Yamauchi has also been asked about a lot of interesting game ideas for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Though he was extra mum, Yamauchi never denied the following ideas and acknowledged them as good possibilities:
- weather effects
- Gran Turismo 5 discount when you buy Prologue
- 1-Serie formula
- motorcycles (Yamauchi says they have the know-how)
- a large Austrian racing course

He said it was possible in the GT series (to go on PC) not Prologue, or even GT5, he wasn't being specific... and since they are quoting a late 2009 release for GT5 it would be YEARS until a pc version IF Sony would allow it.
By the time they finish GT5 there will already be a lot more PS3s, so by the time it comes out I don't think they would need to make PC version.
I hope the deformations will really affect the handling. Also, I hope they will include motorcycles in GT5, this would boost way up the number of cars... ahum! motorised err things we can use to travel and race? lol. Anyway, this would be great, and especially if we could use motorcycles in some races against cars!
The weather effect is A MUST. I mean, now we would have to be the best in a track, then in it's reverse or alternate form, then we would have to master it in every weather. Rain would be splippery and harder, "after the rain" would be cool too, wich some places still having water on it while other part is now dry. Maybe having a lot of wind that would make you loose your balance, and the top would be snow (in the tracks where they actually have a winter at least, lol). Even if it's presets where the water is always at the same places, it would be awesome!
For formula-1, I'm not sure, but if it's in the same game, it's always cool to have more cars, lol.
And finally, for the super big australian track, I'm sure they are mostly wondering if they keep it for GT5 or if they give to prologue users as well since they actually paid 39$. I'd sure like to have a REALLY long track that could take a complete hour to do. I mean, I loved the 2 hour race trials that had before and I'd like to see that in GT prologue for sure. Even if the track have way less details (like if they simply put the major part in the desert), it would be soooo cool and hard to have a super long run, and anyway, they could also do an alternate form where we skip the desert part so it would be 2 tracks. One in a city or near one, and the other form just pass trough the city (half the 1st loop) and finish the run in an hour run through the desert. Wow, that would be awesome, lol. Still, I'd be REALLY supprised by this, but it would be cool.
Anyway, I'll buy prologue after my exams, so around the 22 I'd say. Have fun playing before me guys!
I don't see why you're acting like it's a life or death situation. It's just news, chill.
cant wait for this game
...is nothing new.
Polyphony has developed a game called Tourist Trophy. It is a motorcycle racing game that used Gran Turismo 4's engine. I liked that game and I wish they make something new.
I wonder how this will be like online?
Quite funny the amount of players who bash you out of control in GT5 Prologue.
Hope the discount will be offered when prologue is brought
Just trying to get facts straight for the people that's all NarooN. No body is flipping out.
