Would you like to view the PlayStation Store on PC?

Would you like to get on the PlayStation Store using your PC? You might have your own reasons for wanting to try it but for the heck of it, we guess it pays to know stuff. Some have even claimed that they downloaded Gran Turismo HD, and the files are encrypted as *.pkg files.

Anyway, if ever you are interested, here's what you should do:

Open Mozilla Firefox
In the Address Bar, type: about:config
Right click on the table, then click "New"
Then choose "String" and type: general.useragent.override
Click Ok, then type: Mozilla/5.0 (PLAYSTATION 3; 1.00)
Close the tab, open a new window and go to: https://account.np.ac.playstation.net/login.gvm

Regarding your downloaded stuff like demos, you can always transfer them to your console anyway. If you've figured out a good reason why anyone should do this, kindly inform us. Thanks!

this is good for saving all your ps1 games for psp on your computer because psp cant hold a ton of games. this way, you can just switch in between games without having to re-download the game you want every time from the ps3.

If you can download from the Playstation Store, you can save files either to your hard drive, or maybe even to a disc so you can save space and keep all that you downloaded from there safe. That is if you can actually load them onto the PS3 afterward.

Yeah I got the new Firefox update yesterday. It seemed to be mandatory do to the fact that a window popped up and told me if I wanted to update now or later. If I chose later it would update the next time the app is opened.

this could be great for people wanting playstation sotre content without upgrading their firmware on their ps3 i havent done the most recent update to 1.51 and you cant get to the Playstation store without it so this is a neat way around it but has anyone actually got it to work?

I got a PS3 and an account setup on the PS store and it doesn the same damn thing, which is error out. I can't believe people would post this junk. BTW I am using the latest firefox.

Can QJ help us out here with those with problems? And those of you who it does work for, when u get the demo on the computer, there's no way to put it on the PS3. The only point of this is to download ps1 games to the PSP without the PS3

Playstation 3 Proxyserver Tutorial For Installing Games Via PC version 1.1

PC INSTRUCTIONS PART 1

1. Open up network connection on your PC

2. Right click on the connection you are using (wireless or direct connect both work fine), and click status.

3. Click the Support tab at the top.

4. Take note of your IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway. (Always check your IP Address when doing this, the rest shouldn't change.)

PS3 Instructions

5. Turn on your PS3

6. Go to settings then down to network settings

7. Go to Internet Connection Settings, pick yes when asked if you want to continue

8. Pick if you are wired or wireless, press right

9. Pick custom Address Settings, press right

10. Auto-Detect the operation mode of the network device, press right

11. Ip Address Setting pick Auto.

12.Pick auto MTU, press right

13. Pick Proxy Use, press right

14. Enter the IP address of your computer (IP Address from step 4)

15. Pick UpNp enabled (doesn't matter much)

16. Confirm settings

17. Don't test, and go back to the normal PS3 Menu (aka XMB)

PC INSTRUCTIONS PART 2

18. Download the PS3 ProxyServer Installer from here http://www.ps3news.com/forums/downloads.php?do+file+id+3666

19. Install that

20. Run it (you may have to find it in your program files listed under C:/program files and then it will be in a bunch of Chinese? letters) Then the file will be PS3.Proxyserver.gui

21. Once the program is open you will see IP followed by Chinese letters. Enter your computers IP here (found in step 4)

22. Leave the 8080 there

23. Check the box beside the PS3 followed by Chinese Letters, and then click the big box with Chinese letters in it, the Chinese word will switch when the button is clicked.

PS3 INSTRUCTIONS PART 2

24. Go to the PS3 store (if it loads YOU'RE GOOD, and so am I.)

25. Go to the demos and download any demo till it hits 1% aka one percent

PC INSTRUCTIONS PART 3

26. Go back to the PS3 ProxyServer program, and click the second tab at the top.

27. If all goes well you will see two identical website addresses

28. Copy one of the addresses

29. Open the third tab and click the button on the right with Chinese letters

30. Then on the left paste the Address you copied in step 34

31. Open a web browser and download what you are going to be installing to the PS3 via these links:

32. Open one of these in a web browser and download the file to someplace you will remember

33. Keep the file the default name it sends

34. After downloading go back to the PS3 ProxyServer GUI, and on the third tab, click the little dot to the right of the right box.

35. Locate your file that you want to install, click it, and then click open

36. Go back to the playstation store

37. Go to the demo you downloaded only 1% of earlier

38. Download it again (only this time it will download the file from your PC that you downloaded in step 32 and install that)

You can't do that. The PS3 will only install the demos / games if they are downloaded first, hence why you need to redirect the download to your PC.

To accomplish this on a mac, follow these general steps, but find a free DNS server, web server, and find a network packet analyzer (maybe http://freshmeat.net/projects/kismac/ ) for mac. The same steps will work as long as are ready to tinker just a little to find out where the settings are in your program instead of the ones Diverge mentions.

To reset your user agent back to default, in about:config, right click on general.useragent.override and select "Reset." Google doesn't think you have the ability to use full Gmail because your browser is telling Google that it's the PS3 browser.

I had reserved my PSN name the moment it had the availability to do so up and running. I got the rarest name of them all:

Sesshoumaru

But Im in america, have a ps3, and got get online because PS3 isnt released in Europe yet. So if I could get online on my pc, I could go to the account and maybe change the accounts country to America. Worth a try, huh? But can someone please tell me exactly how I log in to the store without getting the UNEXPECTED ERROR? I dont need to know how to download this and that to get the video game demos, I just want to know how to successfully login without the error being an issue. Any suggestions?

people claims on properly logging in and browsing the UK PSN is a total LIE.

i had been on the lookout for the US PSN address coz i wanna see the game demos available just by using my PC. the Jap PSN contents are displayed over at playstation.jp so i can see whats in Jap PSN without using PS3.

i hope someone publishes the US PSN address so i can keep tracked of whats new over at US PSN or us.playstation.com should follow its japanese brother and tell people whats inside the US PSNetwork.
