Half LifePortal is drawing everyone's attention to it. As testing ground for Valve Studio's newest toy, next-gen gravity gun, Portal is more of a crash course as to how the innovation will be used in the developing Half-life episodes (Xbox360 and PS3).

Though there may not be a lay men's way to explain how Portal works, we'll try still. A first shot from the gun creates the entrance of the portal hole and the next one will create the exit. As we understand it, the functionality of a portal is not just within a map itself but in-between levels as well. So, if the portal is in the right spot, players can drop through the levels from above.

Then things begin to become a little confusing. Say, if you open an exit portal on a wall and enter, the whole world gets rotated and the wall becomes the ground. A very practical application of this move follows: Shoot an entrance hole beneath a missile turret you can't pass through and an exit to the wall. Watch it go crashing down to the ground.

We know just exactly what you guys are thinking: Whoa! And so with that, we'll let you first rest your overblown minds until the next off the charts Portal details.

» Can't wait!!!

I already played the game that inspired Portal. I can't wait to play the real deal and see how it is implemented into future Half-Life episodes.

» huh

the first shot is the exit and the second one is the entrance. Look at the trailer yourself. "if you open an exit portal on the wall and enter" How can you enter an 'exit' hole?
