Will Assassin's Creed still be a trilogy? |
Ó
Ubisoft has been quite vocal about where they're taking the Assassin's Creed franchise. We know Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) will have quite an ending, and it's no secret that the games are all part of a trilogy. That's the thing though - Yannis Mallat could be teasing that there might not be an ending to Desmond's story.
Speaking to CVG, the Ubisoft Montreal studio head revealed that the crucial moments in the Assassin's Creed saga have already been plotted out. They've now set how it will all go from here, and how it's all going to end - except Mallat teasingly went, "Who talked about an ending?" when asked about the end to Desmond Miles' story.
Of course, Mallat could be talking about spinoffs and releases like the ones we've seen on the DS and the iPhone. Assassin's Creed may still go on as a trilogy, but they would still be able to add up to the main plot via other titles. "We know how to keep our secrets," Mallat said. ""Think about it, Assassin's Creed as a brand is definitely oriented towards reliving pivotal moments in history. So along that path we may revisit some interesting moments."
On endings and storylines:
- Assassin's Creed 2 creative director on game's ending: "Holy crap, I never saw it coming."
- Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed "always been planned to be a trilogy"

Doesn't a story have to be GOOD to warrant a trilogy?
Not anymore.
They're working on transformers 3 if that's any indication.
Transformers 2 was a victim of the Writer's Strike that somehow survived and still turned *****ty(Where the hell was Speilburg?), but besides the point Transformers 3 should be WAY better than 2, provided there won't be a another Writer's Strike and/or Michael Bay takes over writing again...
Awesome, NOT!
You know I love this **** that they make up after AC1 became such a hit, I mean hey guys we announce its gonna be a trilogy but now its gonna last for eternity like I DONT KNOW, HALO! MGS.
Seriously they bring out Halo games every year now. At first it was gonna be 2 games, then it became a TRILOGY and now they just threw that right out the window.
Kojima said Oh MGS is gonna be a trilogy and end at MGS3, then people complained because it didnt really end the series.
Hey Im George Lucas, lets make a 3rd trilogy, this right here will probably come true.
MONEY, MONEY, LETS MILK OUR SERIES TILL IT GETS OLD AND DIES!
Oh by the way you forgot PSP's Assassins Creed game known as Bloodlines and it takes place right after Altair defeats the evil one. THE EVIL ONE, THE EVIL ONE, THE EVIL ONE!
...who pissed in your post toasties. who cares how many games they come out with, as long as their really good games. If they release nothing but crap, they should let it go. otherwise, quit your *****in. if its such a problem, don't get it and don't play games.
