Sony: So not real. That's just photoshop, y'all.
What the fudge, right? The white controller has been painting the towns -- er -- white in Japan for a while now, and if you'll remember, GameStop has just confirmed that it will be the official retailer for the Silver one.
But what of the white one? Why the denial? A Sony rep told Joystiq that, "We have no plans to release a White Dualshock 3." ORLY.
The pictured box above is described by the buyer to be the only one left in the store when he picked it up, and even has a bilingual English/ French on both the front and back sides.
I reckon this was supposed to have its coming-out party at the E3, but somebody probably missed the memo, or is color blind and stacked the white one out in the store shelves instead of the regular black one.
Either way, if you spot one on your local retail shop by some magical twist of fate, do take a snapshot and send it in.

I've had one of these for about a year now.It's actually the controller I use most.It wouldnt suprise me if they were selling them at wal-mart.
Sony....Sony...Sony... just what are you--- I didn't know Sony reps had the audacity to manifest such failure. The white DS3 has been out for ages. I saw people posting pics of them on us.playstation.com around the time the MGS4 bundle was around.
You see, It's not like it says "White Controller" on it because in FL we have a Gorilla Games (If its not straight imported off internet) and they sell things like White Dualshocks and Pandora Batteries and even Old school games of yesteryear so it's not limited to the strictly official as in Imported items ( White DS3's like the one I bought ). Slap a reciept from a regular Duelshock from Walmart next to it and boom PS internet community goes crazy......nice try though. I personally don't think its real at least from Walmart anyway....
the last time i saw that packaging was when i bought my wireless keypad. to call that persons bluff JUST CALL THAT WALMART.
The bi-lingual packaging makes me believe that this particular controller was not intended for sale in the US. If it was, in fact, sold from a Wal-Mart store, it was probably shipped to them by mistake and the guys on the receiving dock at that particular store didn't catch it for whatever reason. If the bar code on it is the same as for the black models, I could see where this could scan into their inventory management just like any old DS3. Still, I think what Xis said is more likely. Somebody wants some attention, methinks, and decided to fake it.
your right.i live in pennsylvania and got mine here and we still have the packaging. it has several languages and the controller has english on it.it also works just fine with my american ps3 even though i bought it online (it was a while ago so i dont remember). just get em online you guys.cheaper and faster.

I had a white dualshock 3 before everyone else had black ones. I also have a white 60GB PS3.

Who cares? its a different colored controller, I'm sure your friends Online won't notice a difference. "Hey guys, I just got a white controller for my PS3" "So you must be the one causing this lag" "uhh, no.. Its always like this"
