Wheelman creative director says Midway's secret game can compete with Gears 2 graphics |

According to Wheelman creative Director, Simon Woodroffe during a Wheelman (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) press event:I just saw a demo of a new Midway game that's in development. I can't tell you too much about it, but they've been on it for three months and it looks as good if not better than Gears 2.
On the game itself, Woodroffe described it as similar to Gears of War 2 but with a "whole different setup."
It's already looking as good as Gears 2, but the game mechanics are kind of different. It's going to be really big and really important. It's not often, especially when you're a cynical type, that you see a prototype or creative slice and just get blown away by it. But in this case, the hype is justified.
While some of Midway's titles do use Epic Game's Unreal Engine 3, developmental problems in the past kept these games from making full use of the tools at hand. This time around though, Woodroffe feels that they finally have the technical know-how on their side to compete at the top level via the shared knowledge between their 600-700 developers, all of whom have Unreal Engine experience.
This mystery game isn't likely to come out until around 2010, according to Woodroffe, which begs the question: How are they going to fare against Gears 3, which may very well be out by then and will Midway still be around at all given their recent financial woes?
