Warriors: Legends of Troy - the Dynasty Warriors of the West |
Speaking to Joystiq about their latest project, Koei Canada revealed that Warriors: Legends of Troy will indeed be the Western counterpart of the Warriors series. Originally just a CG studio, Koei Canada became a software house only in 2005, and they're the guys who were responsible for Fatal Inertia and porting Warriors Orochi for the PSP. Warriors: Legends of Troy will be their first major project.
Interesting fact: Warriors: Legends of Troy is not only set to be "a Dynasty Warriors game for people who hate Dynasty Warriors," it's also gonna be made by people who hate Dynasty Warriors. I actually laughed when I read that one. So the output we should be expecting should not be the same-old-same-old stuff we've seen over and over again.
As far as story goes, Warriors: Legends of Troy will span across the ten years of the Trojan War, with influence from the literature and mythology, of course. There will be encounters with the gods, which will be made "appropriately terrifying." So I don't think you'll be pulling a Kratos here.
Koei Canada is planning Spring 2010 release for Warriors: Legends of Troy for the PS3 and Xbox 360. We haven't seen Koei Canada in 3rd person action before, so it's worth a look to see if they're up to the job.

i bet the gods battle will be similar to the legendary mobs in chapter 6 dw:sf.... or even more epic
1. Helen became a tom-boy 2. Achilles wear his shield on his ankle 3. Any event with Odysseus will take about 10 years for him to show up.... 4. Athena is a playable char like Nu Wa and she will be riding the Trojan horse.
How are they gonna do this? Dynasty Warriors gameplay sucks, it doesn't matter what you do with the story, textures and character models, it'll still be a sh*tty game Unless they're going to completely revamp that too, and then I don't see how you could call it a DW game
