Warhawk to be acquired via download AND Blu-ray |
Ó

The internetz is seemingly warming up to Warhawk, and a lot of folks are now getting more and more interested on how exactly you can obtain the said multiplayer online blow-things-up fest by Incognito Entertainment. The problem is, that a loft of folks, even the professionals, are a bit confused as to how the game is to be distributed. There have been previous reports that the game will be downloadable only, and then word got out that it will be a Blu-ray based release, and then word got out yet again that it's going to be downloadable only. Now it seems that Sony's going for both.
Sony Computer Entertainment America clarifies that the game will be available via Blu-ray and via their PlayStation Network.
However, answers only mean more questions (oh how cliche). In this case, Sony is yet to clarify if there will be a price difference between the two means of distribution. 1UP's Patrick Klepek for instance wonders if Sony could be preparing to release the game in parts, with the initial stuff released at a price on Blu-ray and PSN download, and then have the additional stuff be released via microtransaction.
We're thinking that if Klepek is correct in his prognostications, Sony better fix - well not really fix, streamline seems the apt term - the processes people go through in order purchase stuff on PlayStation Network. Just so that we don't have to jump through two bazillion hoops, before we dogfight with 32 other players.

can't wait for warhawk that is the perfect decision they could've made
EVERYONE THE HOME BETA TRAIL WEB PAGE HAS DISSAPEARD 12:46 CONSTANT RELOADING NOTHING HAPPENING OOU THE HUMANITY!
You are right Safu
Sounds like a joke to me. I'm not sure how they are going to be able to get the pricing right across the 2 distribution methods. I think the best thing Sony could do is release a good online multiplayer demo. That has had good success on the 360. If it's good people will go to the store and buy the full version.
Playstation Beta Site is down here, it's 1:05AM EST. (Thats GMT-5 for you global folks). Anyways, back onto delivery, who wants to be a price difference? I'm gonna say retail + $59.99 network + $49.99 But then again...it is Sony...why not charge the same, but if they love us, sell it cheaper! No middleman with the PSN so send the savings along Sony! And sign me up for Home Beta while your at it! Love and Peace Y'all!
They are both full versions, its just that one could either choose to go to the store and buy it (keeping some hard drive space free) or access PSN to buy it (IMO for the same price retailers mark up more than sony would).
but my download limit each MONTH is 30 gigs! if i hvae to download something as large as a bluray disc i'm going to run out f internet in no time!
but i don't want to pay more... that's the problem.
well i was watching a vid on gamevideo.com that they were playing warhawk and talkin about it and one of them had a very good idea. They could release warhawk as a downloadble only, since its only multiplayer, then later on release it as a bluray with a single player mode added to it (and of course extras for the multi player and stuff) because they said they scrapped the single player because it was lacking and they wanted to focus on multiplayer, they never said that they would not make a single player no more.
Oh yea i forgot, DAMMMIT INCOG, GIVE US A DEMO !!!!
The PSN most be a demo. They are no large file (blu-ray) size download out there. It will take forever, also, if that large. Or does this mean Warhawk isn't really that big size of a game. A couple of gigs like Tekken:R. Questions.. The orginal Warhawk is the first PS game I ever got, that was sometime ago.
You can't have it both ways. I have the same limit but I will just pay for the physical medium. I expect it to cost slightly more but that just makes sense. There is manufacturing and distribution costs to consider.
id say they will both be $39.99 its not like its a full game or nothing its jsut online although ***** looks crazy hot
They needed to include single player in this. They should make it possible for you to download a single player version and then get the multiplayer retail for a total price of about 79.99
Sorry, but I don't believe anything Klepek "reports." He is one of the most biased "reporters" in the industry; he's a certified 360 lover. It's like asking a Republican to report on things the Democrats are doing - they'll lie and spin the news whichever way makes the other side look worse. Gord
i hate that its only multiplayer, sometimes my internet goes down for long periods of time and then what?
Warhawk should have a single-mode. Many people might want the action of warhawk without any lag (or dropped internet connections) it might not be an extremely awesome singleplayer but hey, Halo's story isn't the best (but its multiplayer kicks some serious A$$). They can always make a better story in the sequel (There better be a sequel lol)
