GTThe Gran Turismo series is the one racing simulator that holds a special place in the hearts of millions of gamers everywhere. The upcoming version of Gran Turismo that is planned for the PS3 will be a groundbreaking step in the evolution of this genre.

Unfortunately, we can only hope that  this game will be released any time soon! Many of us are still bitterly awaiting the promised release of a version of Gran Turismo for the PSP, but I for one am willing to believe again.

For those who can't bare to place their trust in the gaming industry again, maybe you won't have to. According to Canadian online retailer Future Shop, not only can we expect to be treated to a next generation version of Gran Turismo on the PS3 in a timely manner, we can expect to see "exclusive use of the PSP and Eyetoy brings the realism you expect from a GT game" as well.

Although, the $74.99 CAD (~$65 US) price tag was expected, I was still startled to see such daunting prices staring back at me. While this is obviously one of those topics that should be taken with several grains of salt, here is a retailer that is planning to start selling this game in Canada on November 30 for about 75 dollars.

Thanks goes out to Rashy A for the tip!

» Don't forget

Although this is rumour and no price points are verified, don't forget you're on a Canadian website. That $74.99 is going to be Canadian currency, not U.S. before people start getting all riled up about it.

» that isnt too bad

65 for game when the system is 500-600 that is like 10-13% of what the system cost and when the ps2 came out the system was 300 and the games were 50 16-17% for the cost of a game to the system so the price is acctually not that bad inrelation to that but it still isnt what i want to pay for a game even if it is in hd

all the eyetoy will do is you would point it at ur face when playing and it will edit you into "virtual mirror" so it looks like ur in the rear view mirror on ur psp.

by commyostrich - 2006-07-24 07:52
» even so

even so...are you supposed to prop your psp in your lap to be a rear view or what? I didn't buy a ds so I'd rather not be tasked with have to keep up with two screens especially in a high speed racing game where every second and move matters.

and as far as eyetoy....ha. I don't see anything good coming from that for GT. The main thing they need to add is online play as originally when they released GT4 without online they said they would released a stripped-down but online version of it later...but never did.

and ya...might just have to pick up a second job for those games. sheesh. but drew is right about the costs.

[Pranav] And yet, you're the one who's whining like a 5 year old kid...God! I hate PS3 fanboys!

Pranav T (QJ.NET Staff),pathetic , just pathetic...why you being sad..and critise it because its a gimmick?..if you dont like it..dont get it..its that simple...just have some common sense...FOR ONCE.

Well, if its a rear view mirror then its nothing that'll prevent you from playing the game as you normally would. If you don't want to, you don't have to. I, myself, don't own a PSP so I really don't care about the integration. However, at least its something, gimmick or not, thats available for players that choose to use and add on to their experience.

they are adding online play to GT4. i just got my GT4 Online Beta in the mail. it is gonna be released as a seperate game (hopefully really cheap). so i figure this is like their test run before doing online with VisionGT. hopefully they will hammer out all the kinks before then (like Konami is doing with MGS: Subsistence).

» I'm for it!

As fin said, they are just broadening the scope of the PSP's use. I think anything that gives gamers more for their money is great. I mean, it'll probably have scads of downloadable features for both systems. The eyetoy thing I'll be a little curious about.

» Futureshop

Futureshop is the biggest crock in the mist of all this Ps3 speculation. Who are they? Why all of a sudden do they know the game prices when no one else does? Did Sony call them and only them and speak with some gamestore about something every gamer has wanted to know? Yea I dont think so.

It's just speculation, as is everything right now pretty much. Also to answer one of your questions:

Who are they?

Futureshop is a subsidiary of Best Buy.

» These are speculative prices, dont forget Bloggers have to make mountains out of molehills

I just hope the eye toy is included with the PS3. That would completely revolutionize the way we play games as the developers can rely on the eyetoy being there.

» mehhh...

im pretty sure, the delay of the psp version is due to inter operbillity with the ps3, there gonna be able to be used in unison i bet, festures we cant even imagine, we shall see

» PSP as steering wheel for PS3 via Eye Toy

It would be possible to use a PSP with Eye Toy Camera as a steering wheel fo the PS3 version of the game.

The psp could sense (tracking is the technical term I believe) the rotation of the camera image and send the rotation information to the PS3. But the new PS3 controller itself could also do that so this doesn't make sense for the PS3.

» Meh...

I hope this game looks better than it did during Sony's embarassing E3 press conference...

As for PSP connectivity...whatever...I'm not holding my breath...

» TrackIR

Pranav...:

There are a few applications on the PC side that people use to change viewpoint in games. Especially flight simulators. One of these is called TrackIR.

http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/

It tracks your head movement and in realtime changes e.g. the pilots view in the plane. Simple and effective, though a bit tiring for keeping your head steady for a long time.

The new EyeToy might be used in the same way also.

I'll buy that. I wonder if it connects to Three PSP's? MUHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAAAAA!

» bestuby.com

But besybuy.com is selling Vision GT at 59.99 US on 11/17/2006

So it is all speculation people.

» IGN Date

IGN's game info page still lists the game as 2007 Q2 release. And in previous statements (I remember reading it but forgot where) from key personal of PD, they've also indicated to be a 2007 title.

Most likely FutureShop just made assumptions and entered such release date.
