Sega serves once again and now we have another vid featuring Virtua Tennis 2009 (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii). This time, the guys behind the game give us their take on developing the latest in a long-running franchise of quality tennis games.

Well, we now know that Virtua Tennis 2009 will be having the usual roundup of features - characters, stadiums, and the ever-present tweaks here and there that would make this better than its predecessor. They really focused on realism on this one, creating the same dynamics that the actual pros have to deal with - you can slide on clay, the ball bounces faster on hard, and the crowd really goes wild after a great play.

Still waiting for that gameplay trailer, although bits of gameplay are present in this vid. Hopefully, it's gonna be on the next dev diary vid.

Here's the debut trailer:

Virtua Tennis 3 is an awesome party-game. Looking forward to rumble-support and online with 2009. I only hope that (in the effort to get the 3d crowd, etc) they didn't drop the resolution to 720p. I didn't bite on Top Spin because it just looked so rough and lousy compared to Virtua Tennis 3 running in butter-smooth 1080p.

I think this is a game where visuals really make the game. Yeah, there are nuances for control and all. But it is tennis: on a game console, it's really just a super-fancy variant of Pong in a lot of ways.
