For those who missed out on PlayStation Home's beta, here's a bit of a treat. We've got a new video of the PlayStation Network service (taken from E3) which features the locations that can be found in Home.

We see a beautiful beach apartment (presumably), a balcony overlooking the city, a bowling alley, a park with trees and plants, and a theater, plus various stuff like video ads. PlayStation Home looks pretty with the detailed visuals and all that, though we'd have to wait to actually get our hands on it.

We'll stop babbling so you can go on to click on play. Enjoy the video, and be sure to let us know what you think.

Looks Amazing!! XBOX 360 could only dream of getting something like this! I pity the poor fools who actually wasted $600 on that machine LOL

» WOW!

I hope the theatre will show all the latest movies! And we shall pay the same amount of price! What a nice feature! WOWWW.. .SUGOI! In the comfort of our own HOME ;) pun intended. -_-

» And I pity the fool

who can't see anthing good for the PS3 without using it to attack the 360 (and vice versa on other forums), i.e. childish behaviour typical of a fanboy.

by Player97 - 2007-07-16 02:48
» Agreed TheONe

It's annoying enough to have 360 fanboys over here without idiots inviting them just to start a fight.

i was just thinking... will there be a way to view game lobbies still like on most pc games when online? or will you have to run to some gate and join a random match? i.e. can you pick and choose which game room of x game to join?

» What?

Sorry id much rather stick to XBL, than this bull*****, but thanks for the offer

by Someone_PR - 2007-07-16 04:19
» yep...

Just tired to hear only the PS3 could do that... but anyway... I'm tired too when Microsoft said that we don't want a social network.. just to play games... but every user want this and if the users don't want to get social... well.. why microsoft put the ability to receive and send message of live messenger in the 360? I just want to see the trophies thing... by the way I had to register because someone was using my user name in a few 360 post.. I don't know why by the way... just to bash MR common sence guy

» Nice

Did anyone else get home beta??

Because I got it, and it is really cool.

Last time I played, it definitely did not look this nice. I will have to play again today and see if this is an update or something.

» THIS IS NOT FLAME BAIT!

Looks much better, but I still dont see why I need this. If this is their response to XBL I dont really see them winning the online war. Just my opinion...

I too wanna see how they deal with the trophies and what not, and will old games that youve played allow you to put those trophies in your gallery? Or will we have to wait till they impliment some sort of copy of the achievement system that 360 has before we can get a trophy for beating a game? Im hoping you can create your own trophies like "I beat Ninja Gaiden on Hard" trophy or something along those lines.

All in all Home is looking better and better, but I still cant understand the necessity of it all. XBL still seems like it does it much better. In my mind Home looks like ice cream; nice, sweet, and delicious! But XBL is like a trimmed down 12oz steak; meaty, filling, and nothing you dont need. Reguardless, if they keep it free then you cant really complain.

Im gonna go fold for my team now, peace...

» ahhh

It's gimmicky, but you can't complain too much for it being free.....use it or don't, it's up to you...

As far as the trophy system goes, Sony said that it is really up to the developers to support them, and that First party games starting with Warhawk will support them....i'm sure they can just patch older games to unlock a trophy as well. So really, even though acheivements are a big gimmick as well, it has to be all or nothing....and if Sony doesn't "force" developers to put them in like MS does It's not going to match them....but at least you will get them for the major games no doubt....

» I agree

It does seem a bit gimmicky and unnecessary, but I saw this while watching the Sony E3 conference and it impressed me, much more than it used to. For free it's pretty cool.

I like the idea of the trophies, actually having something you unlock for doing things in games that you can use to pimp out your house is awesome, and better than Achievements IMO. And this is coming from a die-hard Achievement fan (my Gamerscore is in the 40k range)

by Shatterdome - 2007-07-16 21:20
» Ya...

It would be neat...but it kinda works both ways....

Gamerscore is very simple and lack-luster, but you can tag it to forum avatars, and people can check it from just about anywhere....it's also a testament to ALL games you've played, from day one, full or arcade.

To show off what trophies you have, and for people to actually SEE how cool they are, they will have to be in home and will be very limited to how many people will actually be seeing your "acheivements"....
