Anyway, this was apparently done using the new PS3 TIFF exploit that was discovered more than a week ago by members of the PS3Hax Network website (thanks to Phil19 for the tip!). You can read more about the exploit by clicking on the Read link.
The TIFF exploit apparently doesn't work with PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3 backups yet, as more testing is required. Paolohack notes that the exploit was tested on a PAL console running firmware 1.81. The video embed's below. Check it out and tell us your thoughts by leaving a comment.

He's trying to get a "backup" copy of a PSOne game to play, right? My question is the following:
Why would you want to try to play a downloaded copy of a PSOne game on your PS3, when you can play it on your PSP on the go? Another idea, why dont they go to a store and buy whatever PSOne game out of the bargain bin for $10? They should be trying to use this TIFF exploit to run some other code, rather than some nifty disc swap trick.

He uses the original disc to tell the PS3 that a PSX disc is inserted, runs the TIFF exploit, starts the PSX with the X button, and then swaps discs.
No one is saying the FIRST DISC is a backup --- it's not, it's a greatest hits FF something or another. The second disc is the backup, and it didn't re-do disc detection when he ejected the original and inserted it, which is what the exploit is.
Next time, watch the f'ing video before spouting out like a bunch of idiots.
I can see it now... People sending TIFF exploits to their psn friends. Little do their PSN friends know its a tiff exploit, which will brick their ps3's. However their psn friends thinks its a photo of his Home Apartment.

Sorry to say it people, but the second disc he shoves into the ps3 is Breaker Pro. It's a legitimate psx disc used with the swap trick on the original psx. The ps3 should load this disc without any problems, but the real trick is bypassing the disc check when inserting a backup. The guy who created this video appears to be an ***** and or moron.

PUT THE TIFF IN USB IN THE FOLDER PHOTOS & INSERT ORIGINAL PS1 GAME GO ON THAT TIFF PHOTO FROM PS3 WATI 10 SECONDS THEN START THE ORIGINALK GAME
THE PS3 WILL NOW CRASH.... THEN REMOVE THE ORIGINAL PS1 GAME AND PUT PIRATED PS1 GAME AND WAIT 10 SECONDS THEN REMOVE THE USB AND IT LOADS PĠERFECTLY...

no it dosnt, it crashes your ps3 yes, but take the card out and it works fine again. thats the whole point of the exploit, taht you can switch games while its crashed.
Tried this with a JP 1.32 firmware, did not work switched disk and got an error. Works switching between ps3 games tho (non backups). i can now boot up my Ninja Gaiden!

what is it with sony and tiff? First there was a TIFF exploit in 2.00, then one in 2.01-2.8 on the PSP. Now this?

i don't think their will be a full exploit till sometime after 2.0, thats when they will have added a wave of new features, and would have missed something that finally opens the PS3 up like the PSP once was. i think they learned well from their mistakes with the PSP, and making a real exploit run on the PS3 will be much harder

ya.. if it was an exploit, the system would have crashed. PSP's tiff exploit crashes the system... besides... how does it exploit anything if there isnt even a file loaded out of the pictures menu
Hahahaha I love it when people think they can fool us. If the exploit existed, the download would have be released by now.
does exist you can get it at ps3 hacks but its not really a real exploit... what it lets you do it switch games in the middle of a bootup that would run normally anyway. As in.... switching one PSX game for another without havent to stop the first load since it doesnt load with the memory stick that has the tiff in it.... just go read up on things before you all go blabbing about stuff
