Video: PS3 dies after yellow light of death |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: Microsoft, Sony

In the video below, you'll see the console fail a few seconds after it was turned on. As foxracingnumba26 described on his post at Gametrailers, the green light that shows your PS3 is up and running turns yellow before going red. The unfortunate console owner thus dubbed it the "yellow light of death," taking cues from the Xbox 360's famed red lights of death (aka RROD).
The problem persists even if he tries to repeatedly turn the machine on, so he supposedly told Sony about it. As of now, foxracingnumba26 said he's willing to show further proof in form of pictures to let everyone know that Sony acknowledged the problem and wants the PS3 back. You can watch the PS3's death video below.

I would have to say that is really great, especially compared to the 33% failure rate of the 360.

I bet that is where the problem is.

It doesn't deserve a name though, especially since the yellow light is just a warning that something's wrong with the PS3, and not an avatar of PS3 Death.
I'm pretty sure if you took out the hard disk, formatted it, and maybe installed windows on it or something, that's what would happen, but, if that's what he did, AND IT'S PROBABLY NOT, well, no wonder he's the first known brick.

There is borken stuff in the world... yeah yeah, sad... BUT SO WHAT?
And naming it the yellow light of death... seems like a bad xbot joke, lol. I mean, there is was... one case now? MY GOD!! My PS3 is working perfectly while my past x360 always had one red light on (I never saw the ring of death, but it was annoying, so I finnally returned it... new stuff that's not working properly, I'm not paying for it!).
Anyway, I don't care if he can't change his HD without breaking it. At least I take care of mine and it works great! end of story

To be honest I would suggest you never switch the machine off with the back switch.
Hope it helps.

Imagine the problems you would have if you just uplugged your pc every time you wanted to turn it off.
The problem is when the ps3 is writing data back to the ps3 harddrive, you don`t know when it is doing this so switching off using the back button is a realy realy bad idea. But take into account what I said above also.

The name he gives it is quite hilarious, he must think he's so clever to come up with a stupid name like that. Watch more tools will come out saying i got the YLOD the PS3 failure rate is 33%, i bet you. This article is prone for PS3 bashing from 360 fanboys.
