We haven't heard much from White Knight Chronicles since the Japanese version came out last Christmas, but with E3 just a month away, Level 5 Games is gonna brew some major hype before launching the PS3 exclusive on Western shores. Jeff Rubenstein managed to get a few words with White Knight Chronicle's US Producer Tsubasa Inaba and talked about how things are gonna be different for the North American release.

With the amount of text and voice-overs in White Knight Chronicles, it has really taken the devs a lot of time to localize the game. While the others translate, the others go find tweaks and minor improvements here and there that eventually add up to a significant amount. Inaba also confirms - they're hard at work at implementing voice chat for online play, due to the demand for the feature.

There's also gonna be co-op, not for the main story mode, but in a number of online multiplayer quests that Level 5 has prepared. There's also gonna be a lot of weapons, like over 200, combining two of which will result in a more powerful weapon - a Level 5 specialty carried on.

They covered so much stuff in that interview, and with about 15 other interviews prior to that one, no wonder poor Inaba looks so harassed. As for the other details, I'll just let Inaba tell it to us straight up. As for a release date, they can't give an estimate yet since the localization is still taking a lot of time.

» This game has been in development how long?

So really the reason they have been working on this game for so long were for voice-overs because it's obviously not the graphics. You can keep this game Japan, it definitely won't sell as well in America.

» localisation..

Obviously BigGulps thinks babies come from storks, and videogames are all made in america. It's called LOCALISATION. Meaning the game is under translation process, it's not the same thing as DEVELOPMENT. And honestly these graphics best anything I've seen out of a western RPG. While I agree they aren't gonna make people go apeshiet for em', the color palettes look vibrant still.

» I did read the article...

AND I already knew it was released in Japan straight to the bargain bin... mind as well stay there since it will not sell well in America. When this game BOMBS just remember BigGulps told you so.

» Dark Cloud 3...

I hate Level-5 for not making it yet. I would reserve my copy right away if they come out with it. Damn I love that game. We need to sign a petition to get production on the way.

Only games that are good with Squeenix are FF games and DragonQuest the others are mediocre.

Nobody cares if this game pushes 1 mil units sold or not, those of us who are starving for new RPGs and this game is one of many that can fill that void. So when I go to purchase it I'm not going to say "But did everybody and their mom buy this? Cause' if it doesn't sell well, it CAN'T be good". If it pushes 200k units that's good enough for a JRPG in the west. But yeah won't matter to me, cause' this game looks great especially with the online co-op.
