Sony has certainly gone into overdrive this week when it comes to their upcoming PS3 exclusives. Recently, they've unleashed a couple of new videos that delve deeper into the mechanics of two of their headliners: inFamous 2 and MotorStorm: Apocalypse.
Those who've played through the original inFamous will be familiar with how player choices affect not only what happens in the game's world but protagonist Cole McGrath as well. For inFamous 2, developer Sucker Punch are once again placing various crossroads in Cole's paths. Following criticism from players that the Karma system in the original felt too mechanical, Sucker Punch has decided to make the choices Cole is faced with more real and believable yet still clear to players.
In the sequel, the choices that players take will again affect Cole on a physical level, meaning he gets good and evil outfits. Sucker Punch has also added in a more robust and balanced system for those who would rather go down a more neutral path or would like to switch from one side to another. The trailer below highlights some of the choices that Cole may face in inFamous 2. There's also a quick glimpse at the new ice powers the messenger-turned-sperhero is getting, so check it out. inFamous 2 will launch on PS3 come June 7, 2011.
MotorStorm: Apocalypse is another of Sony's upcoming PS3 exclusives for this year. This Evolution Studios-developed game takes players to a post-apocalyptic city based on the California Bay Area. Since it's a new installment in the racing series, MotorStorm: Apocalypse will of course introduce new content such as new vehicles like supercars, superbikes, muscle cars, and choppers as well as the introduction of factions that try to interfere with races. It's also the first time in the series where all the racing takes place in an urban area.
In their latest dev diary, developer Evolution gives us a tour of the game's Wreckreation mode and "suite of diverse multiplayer and solo game modes" the game has to offer. The video also includes new gameplay footage and a look at some of MotorStorm: Apocalypse's challenges, rewards, and customization features. The game will hit retail on April 12, although before that PS3 owners will be treated to a demo. Evolution has promised to announce a specific launch date as soon as testing is done.
