Video tools provider Onlinelib recently announced that Video Communication Server (VCS) has been successfully ported to the PlayStation 3. This is important to you as users because this means that you can now stream video on demand (VOD) - and enjoy live streaming and e-learning from the Internet to your console.

VCS, to those not familiar with it, is a unix-based streaming server. It is capable of supporting development of a portal and as well as protecting content through sophisticated security mechanism. VCS PS3 Framework is still under development and no release date has been announced as of yet.

Despite that, the following are the different features one can expect from the product once it becomes available:

well i chekt it out its not that AWESOME but it WorKs i guess well it sux that its basically just a site not like u know straight from the XMB in a ICON form

I reakky like it...

not how it looks now but it still in development... the idea perse is awsome.. but I hope that it will looks like the VCS media center demo that looks like the singstore... but hey is the first look of it... about that put it in the xmb it will be better.. but just bookmark it just for now...

I saw the page that they are working on this morning. If you go to ps3movies.tv on your ps3 you can access it. If you try on the computer it will not work. If you have a standard definition tv you might want to chenge resolution settings in web browser to +2.

good news

this could benefit HOME, make the videos not load for so long etc. since Onlinelib provided the technology, there will be no copyright infringement of any sort. and this will benefit both Sony and the PS3 users! we needed some fresh air and this is one of em!
