Unreal Tournament 3 - Image 1

For those of us disappointed at the delay of Midway Games' Unreal Tournament 3 for the Sony PlayStation 3, here's a bit of good news that could hopefully turn that delay-inspired frown upside down: it's possible that the PS3 version would still be released at around the same time as its previously-announced release date (meaning, sometime this 2007).

This news update comes from Mark Rein, via an Unreal Tournament 3 forums post. He also states that with the delay, the PS3 version which was expected to have less content would now have the same amount as those of its Xbox 360 and PC siblings. His post, verbatim:

As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay. Our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once itÂ’s ready and is the best game we can deliver.

In addition there is some good news as a little extra time in development means that now the PS3 version will have all of the same maps as the PC version whereas we previously expected to ship a fewer maps on console.

Certainly very good news for the video game community eager to sink their teeth into Epic Games' hyper-detailed FPS Unreal Tournament 3.

Well after talking up all the extra space they have with Blu-Ray now they are saying because of the delay it MIGHT now come with the same content as the PC DVD version. Man, Epic talk some bullshot sometimes.

I'm always for more maps. Might as well wait and see where this goes.

This is what QJ says regarding UT3 content on PS3:

"PS3 version which was expected to have less content would now have the same amount as those of its Xbox 360 and PC siblings."

This is what Mark Rein says on PS3:

"now the PS3 version will have all of the same maps as the PC version"

Note that there was no mention in Mark Rein's statement about the 360 maps. So I wonder why QJ bothered to imply that the 360 was initially going to get more maps than the PS3.
